You guys are soooo helpful! I did see the survey, but wanted to ask what you all thought of each of these techniques? Which lasts without slipping? Which is "better" for brittle, thin hair? I worry about the shrinkies and whether or not they will break my hair? Glue is something I would never consider (Cinderella hair)! Thanks you guys! I am considering making an appt for the pinchbraids but I have to give a non-refundable deposit so I want to be sure!

i really love my pinchbraids, i actually just got mine retightened by heather whos great : )  shrinkies can be very safe if applied/removed correctly also so its up to you.  but you should also remember that if your that wary of glue shrinkies do have a smaller amount in them.  i honestly like the pinchbraids a lot so i would definately recommend them : )

Thank you so much-that is exactly the feedback I was hoping for! Now...can I ask you your hair type? Have you used other techniques on your hair? And also, whose Heather?? I contacted hairpolice.com and I am going to book with them I think!

hi hc - heather is a hairpolice affiliate who works in atlanta and NYC. go back a page or so on here and i have a post with my last install with her with pics of the braids, etc.

for me also pinchbraids are a great method. relatively affordable, they stay in my hair, and they are nondamaging. my hair is not thin but it is this round quite dry from home-coloring episodes :(. if your hair is extremely thin and short and you want very long the only issue i could forsee would be having enough hair to cover the braids around your crown - how high the stylist goes depends on how short/thin your hair is...hairpolice is a great resource and your stylist should be able to say what to expect. also - there are other ways to work around the issue if your hair is super thin/short like perhaps doing pinchbraids over most of your head and perhaps one weaved track on top? different things you can do. there are a couple board members here who have had bad luck with pinchbraids - syren and roserose i think? just major slippage. and i'm not sure that the issue behind that was ever really figured out. you could ask the hairpolice person to put in a couple braids to see how they wear for you over time if you are really curious....

In my opinion of doing both these techniques on clients, I would say that pinch braids are more secure.  Shrinkies work well on most people, but sometimes there are some clients for which slippage is a big problem.
