Hey! I don't have a weave (yet!). But I want to get some tracks put into the back of my hair so I can finally have long hair!!! I've cut it shorter (the longest was to my collar bone two years ago) my whole life and my hair just grows sooo slow. It's only grown about 2.25 inches since MAY! It's depressing cuz my mom and my sisters hair grows so fast:(

Anyway, I've been doing my research and the thing that tends to cost the most is the hair. Real human hair can get alittle expensive. The place I went to sold European and Arabic hair. I think the Arabic hair is from Lebanon cuz they have a factory there (and the Lebanese women have some GREAT hair!). I'm part middle eastern, so luckily the texture matched mine really well:) He said it would be between 1,300 and 2,000 dirhams depending on how many tracks he had to put in. That's about 357-547 US$. I believe that weave extensions are the cheapest ones that you can get. And also better for your hair cuz there isn't all that glue and stuff(that's also my opinion, though)

He also told me that it should last between 4-8 weeks before they have to be tightened. That depends on how fast your hair grows (not a prob in my case!:) ) and stuff. He also told me that if I blowdried my hair more often it would put a little tension on the tracks and they would loosen faster.

I went to the Black Hair Media Forum (http://forum.blackhairmedia.com) and got loads of info from the women there. From what I learened, the most popular lengths are between 18-22". They don't really recommend getting anything over 26-30" cuz that could be too heavy for your head and also that hair would be around 8 years old!

My biggest concerns are about washing my hair. Like I have to wash it every other day, or my scalp gets all irritated. And the guy told me I should only wash them twice a week. And also, I read that you have to make sure the tracks are thoroughly dried to prevent them from smelling. AND if I'm only going to be washing twice a week, I need a really good hair perfume or refresher or something!

Anyway, I hope I helped a little bit! Sorry for the long post, I'm just so excited! I can't wait to get mine done. My goal is to have gorgeous long hair for new years eve heheh. Let me know what you decide to do and how it turns out!!!!

I just now put some tracks in my hair.

I have pics posted in my Fotki. I did it myself so it costed about 10 bucks.. The tracks I bought were human hair blended with synthetic, it was my first time trying and didn't want to pay alot for quality hair only to mess it up. I think it turned out grea. As long as I don't see any damage resulting I will use this to grow my hair out to my desired length. It took me about an hour to do it. I just used latex glue since i hear the bond beaks down easily, again b/c it was my first attempt. I love it it did take me a few days to get used to it..

Thers an extension board on hair boutique you could look at. I was reading aseya's post, and I think that the best hair to get is actually Indian hair..

Well I dont have mines in right now (just took it out a few weeks ago and colored my hair) but I am a frequent weave wearer, I do it myself though (I am licensed thought), I usually get anywhere between 10-16inches, which I mixed so I have that layered effect, I'm in love with the Remy hair but I am now waiting so that I can get indianhairs, which is very good hair! My weaves last me about 2 months if I dont decide to change the style and color I started off with was a #4/30 mix, then #4 and I tipped the ends to #30 now I'mma dye all of it to a light golden blonde/honey blonde so it can match my current hair color and of course I LOVE all my weaves! But you can check out my fotki pages though if you like.

I wear weaves all the time, but I get sew in's that's when they cornroll your real hair and sew the weave on top. I use 12' hair by a brand called Zore it's really silky and it's supposed to be 100% human hair I don't know how true that is anyway, I like this method the best b/c there is no clue and your real hair can rest. Where I live this method costs any where from $85-$150 and it last's about 3-4 weeks b4 the tracks have to be tightened when this happens I usually just take mine out and get it done over.Oh yeah that price is without the hair the hair is about $18 a pack and I use a pack and a 1/2 because I leave the front of my real hair out so that I don't have to get a full weave this makes it look more natural to me......HTH
