Hi! ok, I'm sorry this is so long but I am so confused as to what to do. ok, I have all of my supplies but I am afraid to do my install b/c I am so afraid of creating more breakage. I naturally have a medium amount of baby fine hair, just past my shoulders. I've been wearing a combo of wefts and fusion for 2 years and most recently heat seals. I am currently w/ out extensions (gasp!) and I can see breakage when I look thru my hair--a lot of hairs that are ear lobe length. So my hair from the ear lobe down is too whimpy. I am trying to decide on whether to cut a bob and grow it out (no ext) or put ext back in and hopefully grow it out underneath. I tested 10 shrinkies w/ Plastikhaar tipped w/ liquid gold for 3 days. I skipped the nail glue step b/c I was afraid that the rough edges of the nail glue would cut into my baby fine hair. When I took each shrinkie out, there was 1 or 2 hairs that were broken and attached to the demolished shrinkie. I was very careful and took a long time to remove them. So 20 hairs isn't much but if I install 250 I could potentially loose 500 hairs? What really concerned me was when I removed the liquid gold, I lost about 10 hairs per chunk. I used amm's orange remover (great stuff!!!! Best glue remover I have ever used!) so I was able to gently remove the glue b/c the orange remover works so well. I worked it through w/out combing. I was soooo careful so I don't know what I did wrong. I do believe that shrinkies are a very good method but I am wondering if my own hair strands are just to baby fine to withstand any form of hair extensions. Does anyone have any feedback about baby fine hair? I am a fake hair addict and am not feeling like myself w/ out my hair on! thanks for listening! |

| A couple hairs isn't really alot you are supose to loose hai every day due to sheding. But you know the differance between sheding and loss due to extensions. Sad to say but some times a persons hair can be to fine to fragil to hold extensions and there is no magic extension. They all hang off your hair and your hair must be strong enough to take it. You can make the strands finer and shorter to take some of the stress of weight off your hair. A thick extension on baby fine hair is alot to ask of your strands. |

Could very well be. Some people just are not candidates for a strand by strand method. Your own hair is the anchor. That anchor has to be able to support whatever method you're using being it shrinkies, rings or fusion. With that said, I have some suggestions: ** Use the shorter shrinkies. When the hair is pretipped, the glue underneath melts and lines the entire length of the shrinkie. Longer shrinkies = more glue on a larger area = more cleanup = more work. ** Go lighter on the Liquid Gold and use unlined shrinkies without adhesive. I will send them to you for free if you want to give them a try. ** Never install a thicker strand than your own hair can support. Even if it means all you can wear is 2-4 oz of hair. Don't overload your own hair. ** Tip your extension hair with Proclaim latex without LG as the outer layer. Use the shrinkies with adhesive so the extension will hold. ** For removal, hold the fusion wand on the shrinkie longer to get it very soft so it slides down the hair strand easier. ** Do not pull the shrinkie down the hair strand without supporting your own hair. Hold your hair strand between your fingers between the shrinkie and your scalp and don't allow any tension to occur at the root level of your hair. ** Never comb through hair strands until all residue is out of the hair. Always use your thumb and forefinger to glide residue down the hair strand until it's gone. Some things you may already be doing. If not, hope this helps. PS - And don't stress if you have to give up a preferred method and switch to something else. Seamless wefts and the Pro-Flex installs are light, easy, and may be more suited to your fine hair. ------------- http://shrinkies.net - Extension Supplies & Virgin Brazilian Hair |

I have the same problem with the shrinkies. I kept losing my hair in the strands that fell out. But I realized I was so preoccupied in putting in more strands that I sometimes used only a little bit of my own hair. Barely a few. Big mistake. Also when I did the pre test as you did, the shrinkies were freshly put in, and I lost some hair. I think after a few washes and your own new growth, when you finally take them out, little to no strands come out. BTW..I am anxiously awaiting AMM pre tipped lush hair. Very ANXIOUSLY. No more pretipping...I cant wait! |
