hi hair divas!

I am going on my third week with my new GL extensions. The extensionist put in 16" three different shades of blonde, 300 strands then she layered it. The first week I was a little worried because they felt so different from my little bobbed haircut.  The first time I washed them they felt so heavy!! it is definetly a high maintenance and time consuming system.  I found the best way to style mine is with a spiral iron, and the curls really stay.  Nobody can tell the difference between these and my own hair except that it is much longer

One question I have is about the removal: When I asked her if she would do the takedown, she said she prefers to do it after 4-6 months, before that the resin is still to strong. She also charges $75 an hr!! Is that considered reasonable?  Is there a way I could take them out myself with a special product? I don't care to pay anymore money when I can have a friend or do it myself.

Thanks for all the advice and opinions I have received.  I really appreciate it.

Some feedback please?

50 - 75 an hour is reasonable in my opinion, because removal is a delicate process and thats where most of the damage occurs.  However if she's putting a new head of hair in for you, then I would talk down the price to like 0 - 25 an hour for removal.

edit - I wouldnt wait 6 months though, thats way too long.  I think extensions shouldnt be in for more then 12 weeks at the max.

Any 150 proff liquior ( some one on here used rum ) will work. Put it in a tint bottle and put a few drops on the bond then crush with flat pliers. Make sure the pliers don't have that part on the back that cuts too.I would not go longer than 3 months and thats only if there isn't any matting going on. Have a friend check to make sure the hair between your scalp and bond have not become matted. It's hard to tell looking at it your self.

Yes your real hair growing out can tourn real nasty if left in for long..picture small dreads in your roots O.o I once had Great Lengths in almost my entire fringe...I had a real bad extensionist so the bonds where to big for my fine baby hair and it broke of but i think with the rigth stylist and the proper maintanance Great Lengths can be awsome. I heard some people recomend the Sunsilk Leave in Conditoner for extensions it`s dirt cheap and filled with silicone...:P

Editet: Cause i wrote *Ling* insted of Long..xD

thnaks girls,

I am glad to see that the removal price is normal.  It just seems like a lot of money to get them out.  The liquer and pliers seem pretty straight forward.  I am sure my husband could do it for me.  Thanks again for all the tips.

Also , what is a good leave in conditioner for the ends?  It seems so dry and tangly in that area.

Hugs,

K
