I am thinking about buying http://www.babyliss.co.uk/jkcm/default.aspx?pg=249 - this set from Babyliss, but first I have a question..

Anyone know if the heatclamp is good/hot enough for shrinkies?

It looks like this, if it is any help:

I got one from ebay a couple of months ago for £13 and it does the job. I used it for shrinkies and it works and also for pretipped hair aswell.

I have seen this wand before and I think it's adorable. I have also
heard it's more than sufficient. Didn't Conair discontinue this because
of lack of interest? Either way can't beat the price and how fun is that
to get little colored streaks and crystal streamers at the same time.
Ooooo I'm getting some ideas.

I bought mine from ebay and it cost me £13.00 or something like that.  It was like new and had been used once.  It had all the sythetic funky colours with it and also some diamonte.  Its ideal and was definetly worth £13.00.  I have seen some going for a £5.00 just for the connector

So, now I've bought the wand and tried it, but it didn't work for me. :( I could get the pre-bonded strands that came along to work just excellent ( http://elio.gnarf.org/Bilder2/mammatest.jpg - this is what two strands of baby pink looks like in my mothers fringe/bangs, for example ), but the shrinkies just didn't work. They didn't seem to shrink enough. Is it possible that the wand is to "cold"? Or maybe shrinkies isn't suppose to shrink that much.. The amount of hair I tried with is just as much hair that I usually use when I work with microrings (both the microrings and the shrinkies come from DrLocks and is a size M; I tried working with as much hair as the microneedle could take). I don't want to use more hair/strand than that, it would just look chunky and way to visible.

So, what do you think? Should I look around for a better wand (any tips of brand or so?), or do you think I used too little hair? The shrinkie barely shrunk at all. :/

Heeji, Are you sure you let it heat up enough? i wait 5 minutes before i start to install.

** The shrinkies shrink down to the size of the prebonded plug you insert, i have fine hair so i only use small plugs*

It works just fine for me and shrinkies. But i heard it`s a common problem with Docs shrinkies that they dont shrink down soo much:) but for me they work just fine:) I heat, then rolle a bit, Then heat the shrinkie 2-3 seconds.

Good luck^^

moffpoff - Yes, I waited for about 15 min before I tried the heat wand.  Well, I guess it's my wand, then. Now I just have to find one that work with european wall sockets, and does not cost a fortune.. Thank you for your answer!
