Here's the first pictures of my install along with pictures of the hair I used. If all goes well I hope to be offering this hair in the near future.

I'll try my best to answer all of the common questions...

Hair colors are #613 and a mix of a #613 and a light brown color (Similar to #14b on the Bohyme color ring).

Methods used: Keratip for the mixed color hair and a mix of extendtubes and shrinkies for all of the #613. I snipped a few of the keratip strands in half to make some smaller strands.

I used about 5 ounces of 20" hair (which measures at 21 1/2").

It took me about 6 hours to do on myself but I split it into two sessions.

Did I miss anything?

Flashback to recap my hair's progress as I grow it out after some horrible breakage:

November 2005 Before install:

Below are two pictures during my install using YHS Shrinkies. Sorry about the black roots. I usually have my hair freshly colored before I install but my roots were just short enough to not be in the bonds (and I was way too excited to wait any longer ). Notice the mirror I have rigged up hanging so I can see the back of my hair while I install it (my nickname is Macgyver  haha ). It works great.

Oh yeah, in the mirror you can see the very top row in the back that I was working on at the time this picture was taken.

Side view of before and after. Notice my hair only went to my sleve in the before picture (below left) and now it's about 8" longer. Also check out the horrible layers around my face caused by my past breakage.

After pictures from the back... thick pony tail huh?!

After the first shower, the comb out was a breeze and the hair didn't go curly.

Just after I blew it dry, no fancy round brushes. It dries straight.

My hairs debut out on the town last night. I curled it with a 1" barrel curling iron. It took me less than 15 minutes to curl it (WoW!). It took curl quickly and held all night with out hair spray. It still has a soft curl today, 24 hours later:

Here are a few pictures of the hair. I used all of the platinum but only 2 bundles of the mixed shade for the under side of my hair.

I'll keep you posted with the quality of the hair as I continue to wear it.

I'm off to bed, let me know if you have any questions

Hi

I think your hair looks great, especially in the picture with the curls. I am new to extensions but I am very soon going to install a few as a highlighted effect in my hair. I figured that I would just try a few at first and see how I get on with them before venturing further. I hope to one day be capable of installing extensions like yours. Well done.

do you leave a row of natural hair out of your extensions? or do you just do that towards the top?

Thank you everyone for your compliments  I'll post some more pictures of my hair in a week or so as I continue to track it's progress.

As long as this hair stays as nice as it is right now I'll be getting it in stock in December. I can order any custom colors and blends that i want to (YAY!). I plan on putting together some blends that I've seen my clients needing that were not offered by Bohyme. If anyone has any special requests for colors and or blends please just let me know and I can have it included in my order.

Kateadreena: I personally do leave a little hair between the rows. I like it this way because if I need to wear my hair up or in any creative ways I can always use some of the hair in between the rows to cover my bonds. I do however have clients with thin/fine hair that do require me to attach the extensions all over without leaving hair between the rows or bonds so I can put the amount they want in.

Hey Kristin,

I came across this message board and I must say, it has been a gift to me ha ha.

I have read so many different methods and all the pros and cons to all of them. I came across your webistes and I loved every hair on your gallery, I dont think there was one that I didnt think was awesome. The pics you posted of your latest install look amazing as well. Your natural hair doesnt even look to damaged, but my idea of damage is just thinned out hair. I know that coloring or bleaching can damage the hair which is just a given to anyone that chooses to do that.

I have thick hair already but my problem is I try to grow it out (because it is layred all over right now) to be longer but the moment my hair (mainly in the back bulk of my head) gets to be thick again I cant do anything with it. It wont straighten nice and it wont blowdry nice...and the ends look dead because I straighten my hair almost every day so I have to cut it. I have never had breakage though in my hair so when everyone is saying how they had half their hair just break off, I get really scared. I want to put in extentions just to thicken up my hair and have it a bit longer (my hair is past my shoulders almost to the middle of my chest). I want it to be just layered at the ends rather than layered all over. I'll try to post a pic soon to show you what it looks like now. My main question is what type of method would you suggest that I use (and if anyone else has an opinion on just thickening up some layered already going to be thick hair with extentions would love to hear it)?

I also want to experiment gradually with different colors of hair. I have pretty much had the basic on my natural hair. Bleach blonde, red, brown, dark brown...I currently have dark brown (fading though) with blonde highlights on the top. I really like the type of hair you use Kiristin, it looks more natural. Is that human hair or synthetic? The methods that I have looked at and considered is the Shrinkies (do the shrinkies melt on to the hair or just "shrink" in size to have a firm grip on the hair?), Fusion chips (which I"m not liking anymore since discovering the shrinkies) or the extendtube (but I read that can pull the hair out). I also should say that I would like to do this on my self after practicing a bit of course. I love to do things with hair and try lots of new things so this is my next goal to conquer.

I need some advise though. Im pretty sure I dont need every single piece of my hair done. THe pics you posted on this message board looked relatively spread out which I think thats all I need. How much hair did you use for that? And did you cut it after or just leave it the length it came out as?

HELP!!!! After reading these experiences I dont want to come out of this bald or thinned out hair. I just want to thicken my own hair up while it grows out, so I dont keep cutting it. Thanks!

- Jamie

Hey again Kirstin,

Just wondering, what type of hair did you use for this last install??? And when will this be on your website for sale???

Thanks, Jamie

Kristie: I will be getting hair on the weft and hopefully when I get the pre-tipped hair in.

Hairprincess: I used a new type of hair that I have been doing some trials on for a couple months now. It is very similar to Bohyme which is what I use on my clients. I am expecting to have the full line of it in sometime in December as long as I still love the hair at that time

I wrote back to your other question here:
