My hair is some where between wavey and curly, and comes to my
shoulders. I usually blow dry it sraight but I'd like to start letting it dry
naturally, but I find that my hair tends to get flat at the top and then big
and curly at the bottom (pyramid hair...NOT GOOD) does anybody have
any good advice on how to get nice, consistant waves throughout?

Hi sugaree, as a fellow wavy/curly I know exactly what you mean!

Have you read "curly girl" by Lorraine Massey? There are tips in there about how to achieve height and body in the canopy.  One of the best tips is to do little finger curls and pin them so that they sit up (at right angles) to your scalp. You only need maybe 3 or 4 down the centre of your head and when they are almost dry, you take them out and leave them (separate them a bit) alone.  I find my hair looks best when I totally don't touch it!  Also, use a microfibre towel to dry the roots a bit whilst you are hanging upside down, this should help to give them a lift.  I think when you let them air dry from sopping wet, the weight of the water can straighten your roots.

Hope that helps you!!!

PS: I recommend that you STOP blowdrying your hair immediately. It's not good for any hair-type, but especially curlies. Air-drying is best. You just need to practice with techniques and products to get what is right for you.   (btw, the pics in my sig....I have NO product in my hair at all and it was left to air-dry)

Thanks MissRini for the tips! I agree that my hair looks best if I don't do
anything to it at all. I think your hair looks great, so I'm glad you
answered my questions! Especially in the second pic, that is basically
what I'd like to achieve. I am also growing out my fringe ( they're only just
brushing my eyelids now, so I'm probably going to stop wearing them
straight across and start trying to sweep them to the side - this will be
better for the curly style ). Sometimes I envy my straight haired friends
because they can let their hair air dry and it will look good with little
effort. But ultimately, I think our curly-wavy is the best hair type. We can
have the best of all worlds, curly or straight, or wavy! I'm glad to be a
wavy head, I'm going to try to embrace it more!
