I use to use oily products on my hair but I found that it made my hair too oily, and a bit flat so I started using less of those products and even though I like how my hair looks with less, because my hair is dryer it seems to break a lot more easily. I’m trying to grow my hair but I don’t want to remove broken strands of hair from my brush every morning, its depressing. I don’t want hair that is too oily and hair that is too dry and delicate so that it breaks what should I do about this?

I'm not exactly sure. I never had oily hair and suddenly I can't go 24 hours without a wash. I never changed my routine. There must be something that can neutralize the scalp??

my hair is  oily when I put certain products on it  when i blow dry and flat iron my hair, but if i dont put things on it, it is too dry and now its breaking. I dont want to have oily hair, but i dont want to have dry hair that breaks either because im trying to grow it

Oily hair can be because of hormone changes, and it can also be your shampoo. Read your shampoo ingredients and make sure the second,  third, or fourth ingredients are NOT:

"sodium lauryl sulfate"

"ammonium lauryl sulfate"

"ammonium laureth sulfate"

The above ingredients can make your scalp produce a lot of oil. Find a shampoo that lists the following ingredient near the top of the list:

"sodium laureth sulfate"

These are all cleanser ingredients in shampoo. Sodium laureth sulfate is much MUCH gentler than other cleansing ingredients so it won't make your scalp produce more oil. The harsher the cleanser, the more your scalp would compensate to make up for your scalp being "squeaky clean".

Dove Intense Moisture Shampoo is great, the second ingredient after water is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. It doesnt even have those three other ingredients in it.

thanks guys but the thing is, if I reduce the amount of oil, I have the ooposite problem, my hair is way too dry and breaks very easy and im trying to grow it so I dont want that either. I dont really know what to do so that my hair is strong, not too dry yet not oily... somewhere inbetween maybe???

If your hair is dry and breaks easily, oil is not the solution. I think you should
add more conditioners to your washing routine, after switching to a gentler
shampoo.

Oil is also no good if it doesn't travel down your length, and only remaining
in the roots area.
