Whenever I comb my hair after washing it, it gets extremely frizzy. But I have heard that combing hair when it`s wet stretches the hair strand and encourages hair growth. I have also heard that combing wet hair, even very gently, causes it to break and not to grow as fast.
My hair is extremely frizzy, but I desperately want it to grow. Which would make my hair the healthiest and grow the longest and fastest--combing it after washing, or just letting it dry? If I should comb it, does anyone have any tips on how I could make it less frizzy?
Please help! Any and all ideas, comments, and suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Handling wet hair is definitely more dangerous than doing the same when it`s dry. When your hair is wet, the hydrogen bonds holding your hair`s texture and general shape are temporarily broken. (They reform as your hair dries.) Hence, your hair is more prone to damage when it`s wet. Combing your hair and/or tugging at it will not make it grow. That is an internal process relying on your body`s general health and your hair`s genetically predetermined growth rate. (Many people on these boards are having good luck with hair vitamins designed to grow hair faster..I`ve never tried them.) Combing wet hair is ALWAYS better than brushing it wet...something you should never do because it can rip and damage hair.
If you are looking for something to calm down your frizz, I recommend a good emollient shampoo and conditioner. Frizzy hair is porous and dry, taking on moisture from the surrounding hair and expanding out as a result. I have the same problem. A few products I love:
Loreal Nature`s Therapy Mega Moisture shampoo Phyto Systeme Hydro-Botanics shampoo Clairol Color ProTec Daily Replenisher--it makes no difference that it`s for colored hair; this conditioner is WONderful for dry hair John Frieda Frizz Ease Glistening Creme--cuts my frizz to zero Aura Cherry Almond Bark Revitalizing conditioner--GREAT deep conditioner
I buy all but the Frizz Ease at Sally Beauty. You could also try some defining/frizz-reducing gels. I love Loreal StudioLine Melting gel. I hope this helps! :-)
