Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows what it is? I've been doing some searching on hair salons online for a good colorist in NYC and I've been coming across on many of their service menu a starburst highlights technique? I never heard of it and I was wondering if anyone knows what it is. Thanks all.

I could be wrong, but it sounds like the same thing as the spilled effect. And that is where they put a different color on the top layers. But instead of strips or panels like standard highlights it  would make a star shape on the top.It sounds weird, but I have seen it done and it looks really cool.If your looking for something more natural, I'd say get freehand highlights from a good stylist. But if you want something funner and cutting edge then the straburst effect is the way to go.
