It didn't work for me either when I tried to do them daily. I now do 1 conditioner wash a week and 1 regular shampoo. Works much better for me that way and keeps my hair moisturized.

I can only co wash up to 8 weeks post relaxer. After that my hair DEMANDS low manipulation OR ELSE : breakage, matted roots, tangles, and tiny knots on my ends!  I had to learn the hard way what works for *ME*...  But my hard-headed self tried to jump on the CO-wash bandwagon like everyone else.

No.  But I remember that my scalp didn't feel particularly clean after I washed three times with conditioner, and since I have eczema, it's important that I clean my scalp, or the eczema scabs make it look like I have dandruff almost immediately after I wash my hair.  So I stick to diluted shampoo and deep conditioners/Aphogee leave-in.  I'm glad it works for others, though.

What do you do after 8 weeks post relaxer?

After that 8-week mark I  only wash once per week up until I relax (usually @ 12 weeks post).  To make up for the lost CO wash I do a creamy leave-in daily, followed by shea butter... And I hardly EVER comb through my hair - I only detangle with fingers and smooth with my hands.  The only time I completely comb is after a fresh relaxer when I blow dry, flat iron, and dust my ends.

I am scared to do this, I am afraid that my hair will start flaking and itching really bad!

NoNapNique, have you ever tried doing a CO for your once a week wash after the 8-week-mark? What leave-in do you use?

blackhoney112, CO makes my scalp flake and itch sometimes. But it's my own fault. When i'm too lazy and I use a conditioner with cones in it on my scalp that happens. But I love how my new growth behaves when I CO. The little waves and curls are so defined and moisturized. Instead of the pouffy dryness I get with shampoo.
