Right now I'm thirteen weeks post relaxer, and I washed my hair today for the first time in...a while.   (Busy.)  I noticed that I didn't shed very much while washing (maybe 15 hairs - very few broken ends), and not very much while rollersetting (maybe 50 - small number for me), and I probably won't shed too much when I flatiron the curls in a few minutes.

So why do I seem to shed so much when I'm just combing my hair with a widetooth comb and slapping it into a ponytail?  I can tug 5 or 6 hairs out of the ponytail every time I grab, for 5 minutes if I like.  Weird.

In case it's important, I take 3 mg of biotin daily.  That's about it for my hair care regimen.

I shed a lot too.  It's lessened considerably since I began taking better care of my hair (no more bathroom floor / sink covered in hair).  I am deep conditioning more and using oil and more moisturizing products on a regular basis.  If I notice shedding is increasing, then I know it's usually due to 1 of 3 things...I'm over due for a Protein Treatment / Reconstructor, need additional moisture or I need a relaxer.

I just added Fo ti root extract to my regimen to reduce daily shedding. I only get like 7 shed hairs per day... But I also take biotin, MSM, brewer's yeast, and horsetail, and multi-vit. My hair is noticeably thicker (and less "see thru") and I am 2 in. from brastrap!
