Hi! This is my first post in months!! How are ya`ll doing? I`m in a crisis! I was looking at the ends of my hair the other day and I think I have split ends?!However, everytime I look I don`t see them. I have angles in the front of my hair so I cut them shorter and did the twist thing to get some of the ends to pop out and I cut them off. But today I looked and I still saw some bad ends. Then I went and looked a little bit later and they were gone ( didn`t cut them off). My hair is light blonde (highlights) and brown/blonde the rest. I use good products and get trims every 8 weeks and deep cond at least once a week. My hair is very shiney and looks very healthy. My highlights are never done on the ends of my hair. However, I do blow dry daily, but always with my biologe leave in. The ends I sometimes see are white, but don`t look split. The problem is, since my hair is cut with a razor (its about an inch past my collar bone in the back when tuged done) how will these ends get cut off without alot of hair coming off? I still want to grow my hair longer. Also I don`t seem to see these white looking ends in other sections of my hair, just around my face. But I can`t see the back very well. Thanks!

I`m not really sure if those are splits or not. If they aren`t really noticeable as a split then it might just be dry. The razor cutting could be causing this but I don`t think its something to be overly concerned about. As long as you are paying atttention like you have been doing I don`t think you will have any serious problems. Try looking at your ends in different light sources. It may look different outside in natural light. Are you using your products more often than they say to use them? It is possible to dry your hair out more by using products too often. Think of 2 sand castles on a beach. One is closer to the water than the other. That one will crumble faster than the one farther back because it`s sand is being washed away faster. The same thing happens to hair. Also since you are blow drying that could be a cause of the dryness as well. I`m not saying you have to change your routine at all.
Once again, as long as those hairs are not splitting you should be ok but if they do split just nip those splits off like you are doing. If you are in doubt get a magnifying glass and look at them. They only need to be cut off if they are splitting. Unless its so damaged that it causes more tangling than usual then you could get a 1/2 trim or so and see if that helps. But again that`s only if its seriously damaged in your opinion.
I hope this helps.

Someone on another board also asked about razoring their hair and I DO NOT recommend it for the very reason you have stated.
I will quote from long hair guru George Michael:
"A razor is a guillotine for hair that produces only negative results...if you use a razor, the hair is cut on a slant which upsets the shingle pattern and causes the hair to stand straight up - in other words: to split. On the other hand, hair that is cut bluntly with scissors is cut straight across the hair shaft at a right angle, which diminishes the possibility of fraying."
I have seen a number of women with razor cuts that do indeed lead have split ends (and, as we all know, the only way to remove split ends is to cut MORE). I recommend you STOP cutting your hair with a razor.

Can I get the same look that I have now if my hair is cut with scissors?

It would depend on how it was cut. Did a stylist use the razor to cut or did you cut it with a razor? If your stylist did it ask him/her if it can be done with scissors instead.
As far as the layers go layering can be done with scissors. All the razor does is changes the ends a bit.

I cut it with the scissors, my hairdresser did it with the razor. This time when I get my hair cut I want it to look like Jennie Garth`s in the Celebrity Hair Nov 2002 issue on page 43.

Can you describe that at all? What length or lengths is it? Is it choppy layers all over or just some face framing type?
Which way did you like it cut better, razor or scissors? Does Jennie`s hair look like it was razored?

The length is a little short than mine now, right above the shoulders. There are some short pieces to about her cheek bones then lays the flips out a little from the ends to about above her ears. I`m not sure if I described this right.... I like both ways of getting my hair cut. It`s hard for me to tell if her hair was razored or not.
