hi luckie - there is a thread somewhere around here for doing a blowout using a hairdryer to straighten synth by doc locks - basically that's what i did to smoothe out my ph with a steamer. keep the steamer stationary and keep the synth moving so the steam doesn't hit one spot for a long time - i don't think the synth will burn per se but i think it doesn't get nice and smooth. i used my paddle brush and just divided the hair into several seconds, brushing each section in front of the steam (paying special attention to the ends). as you know the steaming with straighten it out - if you want waves again just hot roller set or some people have steamed a wave into the hair using regular rollers. for me hot rollers always worked best.

hope this makes sense! be careful also - i have a regular garment steamer, not a mini one, but i think the steam can get really hot if you get it really close to your scalp!

I've steamed PH.  ANd used a blowdryer and generally abused the crap out of ph and these methods will give it back some life.

I set either the steamer or blow dryer on the bath room counter and lean over stand up so the hair moves in front of the heat supply (using a brush).  IF you leave it too long in front of a hot enough heat supply your won't burn the hair you will melt it.  In better news if you manage to melt it and even get your hair in the melted hair you can crack the melted PH without breaking your own hair in order to get it free.
