Hey i'm new to this forum and am unsure wheather this question has been asked before, but i was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what exactly is a body wave.

I have thick kinda boofy hair    and was wondering if it will make my hair boofier  hehehe.

and how much do they generally cost

A body wave is basically a VERY loose perm - it doesn't give you tight curls but rather just adds a gentle wave to your hair. The procedure is the same as a regular perm but uses much larger rods. It is most often used to give body to fine hair.

One of the good things about it is you can play up the wave with mousse and scrunching, or play it down with a blow out. If you are in a hurry and pressed for time you can just scrunch and go and it still looks good.

Rather than trying it at home, check with your hairdresser to see if it is right for your hair type.
