Ok, I hope this isn't going off topic but do any of you men with long hair have any opinions about very long beards? I mean, would you grow them as well or do you count them as a completely different thing? I mean, they're long and they're hair...

Long hair appreciation and beard appreciation are separate things.  Completely.  For me personally, I don't like to have a beard for several reasons:

1) Gets scratchy and annoys the heck out of me!
2) Long hair loose gets caught in the beard and annoys the heck out of me!
3) When my hair was a bit below shoulders, I tried a beard.  But I thought I looked like portraitures of Jesus... and there's only one Jesus (and it ain't me! )

There are some men who appreciate (and have) both beards and long hair, and I completely respect that.  To each their own.

Even though I have long hair, I like being and looking "clean cut". I think that's difficult with both a long hair and a beard.

Plus, the last time I let my beard grow during Christmas break (I can grow a good beard in 5-6 days), it was mostly grey!!

All the power to guys with both long hair and beards. That's great if that's the look they want. It just isn't for me.

Since I've gotten older, I've been getting a few "old man" long eyebrow hairs on each eyebrow. I'd love to have the "wild scientist" look, buy my wife insists that I trim them

My husband, who is balding, has declared he would never have long hair because (his opinion) balding men with long hair look like they're trying to compensate.

However, he had a beard that went down to his chest that he treated with great care. He used to comb it and condition it and fuss over the thing. I tried to braid it one time and he got a little irate because I was "tangling it".

Basically the beard was it's own little entity in his life that was mourned over when he had to shave it off for work.
