I did this once, and I think our results were similar... the yellow brassy strands I had were inconsistent in color in the length of the strands, and at the roots it was "blobby" where a patch of strands were yellowy bright gold brassy ugliness, and then a little further down it thins and the color is not as bright and brassy and a little more "controlled" and although, not desired, not too bad, but not expected.
Ok, I dont know what product specifially you used, so I will generalized with what I went through. I used the loreal color expert multi- tonal kit.... the first half was a bleaching kit... this is where it went wrong for me. I used the first part of the process and realized, it just wasnt going to work, so I went back and picked a color I liked ( red for me) and did it over ( it was the next day).... it turned out nice. the yellow nasty highlights were transformed into nice red strands, uniform in color. Be very cautious though... layerig color is tricky and would be best done/fixed by a pro.... If you do it yourself, Remeber that after you lighten, especially harsh bleaching, your hair is MORE than porous and sucks up EVERYTHING! Time and strand test!!!!!! I suggest you go somewhere you trust, if you dont know of anyone, ask your friends who they trust, DO NOT do the supercuts/great clips $10. hair cut special place.... you need a spa or real qualified salon.
