Just curious

I wear my hair up all the time and 99% of the time I wear a french twist held by a concord clip. Simple and easy!

What is your favourite upstyle (hair-friendly of course!) ?

Jennifer wears her hair down and loose most of the time.  When she puts it up, she usually puts it in a bun.  From time to time, she'll do a braid, pigtails, topsy-tail or even two buns made from pigtails.  Our personal feeling is that if you have long hair, let it down and show it.  It's better for the condition of the hair to stay up and hidden all the time, but we both prefer to see long hair down and flowing.

I wear it up a lot, unless I've used cones recently to prevent some of the tangling.  I either do a french twist or a braided bun with sticks to hold it up, but some days I like to do different things for variety (hair cinch, ponytail, french braid).

I like taking the bits of hair just above my ears, braiding them and then pulling them round to the back of my head where they meet eachother and keep them there with a tiny little butterfly clip. It looks very pretty!

It's been below freezing lately... so I have to contain my hair in a way that it fits inside my hat. Lately I've been wearing a scrunchied single braid or a cinnabun with corkscrew stick.

Pretty much anyway: down, ponytail (messy or sleek), half up, braided (haven't done this in awhile, will again when hair grows out), classic bun, messy bun, pigtails, and funky ways that I see on t.v. and decide to try on myself. I don't really like it when people wear their hair the same way every day, life is short, put some variety into it!

Well Chelsea, I consider my perpetual up-styles to be a phase I have to go through.  I'm really not happy with the length of my hair right now, so I'm afraid that if I wear it down I will start to obsess over it and then cut it off again!

There is plenty of variety in other aspects of my life....don't you worry about that

Hey missrini, that comment was not directed at you at all. Sorry if it seemed like it. I just went back up and reread your first post. I have a friend who has long hair and wont wear it anyway, but down. I know it shouldn't matter to me how she wears her hair, but she can do soooo many diiferent styles with it and won't, guess I am a little jeaouls I understand about having to wear hair up while it is growing out, we both are trying to go our hair out right now. Besides we are growing it out so we can do different styles to it!

I go through phases...At the moment I'm in a plaiting phase, before that it was loose phase and before that ponytail. I would like to wear my hair up more but I never have time (or patience!) in the mornings.

I wear mine in a simple 3-strand braid for work, and wrap and tie the ends.  Looks just waist-length to the unaware.

I'm on vacation right now, so I've been wearing my hair in two braids. This has allowed me to stretch out the time between washes and do lots of conditioning/oiling. I never thought I could go four days without washing, but that's what I did this week. When I'm working, I have been wearing it up mostly. It is in an awkward stage right now, a few extra inches will help!

Hi MissRini, I'm not quite sure how to measure it, but it is just at shoulder length (barely). Your hair looks about three or four inches longer than mine. I think my hair is about the length of your middle (August) picture.

-------------

Posted By: missrini
Date Posted: November 28 2005 at 5:49pm

SpecialKitty, my hair is 19 and 3/4 inch long (at the last measure). It grows at 3/4 inch per month.

Measuring page: http://longhair.org/HCP/measuring.htm - http://longhair.org/HCP/measuring.htm

Basically, you put the end of the tape measure at your hair line and then bring it down over the back of your head and "stretch" out your hair with the tape measure to see what it's length is. Do it 3 times or so just to make sure you get the same measurement.

I think it's really interesting, because it's a great way to track growth and allows you to compare your hair and to see what 30 inches, 35 inches etc looks like on other ppl.  I also like to see how fast my hair grows (have always thought it grew fast, but will be interesting to see exactly how fast)

Btw, does your name refer to "hello kitty"? I have been a Hello Kitty collector since the 70s

Missrini, our hair is just about the same length right now! (19") You might
say we're paddling down the river in the same boat assuming our hair
grows at similar rate, we could celebrate our milestones together... bra
strap length, elbow length, waist length... that'll be a good time

I usually like to wear my hair down if I can, unless I either 1.) have no time
in the morning so I just ponytail it, or 2.) my hair is being unruley in
which case I put it up somehow. I also liked doing double braids (when
my hair was longer), which look super cute, they're easy and after you
take them out you have nice waves ~

Thanks,

I'm too lazy/sleepy most days to do much with my hair, but I usually brush it back to the middle of my head, tie it in a loose knot then pull the ends through the middle of the knot and back towards my head then stick a claw clip on it.

It's a pretty loose stlye anyway, but if it gets too baggy then I'll just take it out and do it again, it only takes 2 seconds lol.

In the summer I normally plait, but it gets too fuzzy on my woolly winter jumpers at the moment

I also go through phases.  Last winter and spring it was ponytails and buns, during the summer it was braids and bubba tails, during the fall it was a lot of braids and buns.  Right now it's really cold so I've been wearing it down for an extra layer of warmth... which I know is bad for my hair, but it feels so gooood!

Thanks Susan!  The color it appears to be depends on the lighting.  This was outdoors (obv) on a brilliantly sunny day with low humidity, and I was in the shade, so it appears to be a very dark blonde.  And yes, those wispy ends are almost to my ankles!

Really? I started practising when I was about 7 (my mum french plaited in to two pigtails everyday and I wanted to do it myself). It can be hard to start off with but once you've got the hang of it it's really convenient. This link shows you how to do a normal plait.
http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/articles.php?action=vi ewarticle&artid=49

She starts it off in a complicated way-you can just put it in a ponytail and start from there (with or without a bobble)

Sorry for going off topic everyone.

Hi all! Happy new year 2006! I turned 35 on january 8th 2006!

I'm a natural redhead(medium red), The length is currently 31/2 inches above my shoulders...I'm happy in general. I usually wash every other day, air dry with towel, scruch some sport dep gel at the top and side roots(for lift).

My wedding is soon, Feb 18th, Thursday Jan 12th, I'm consulting with a stylist for a mini updo for my wedding. I'm thinking my sides pulled up and twisted and clipped(using a barrete) then the veil and tiera.

By the way I cut my own hair, and my bangs are cut slanted, I'm casual, confident....I've had really long hair back in 200/2001/2002. Even as a girl I had long hair....

That's all for now....I don't wish to overwhelm anyone, ;)

Hello I used to wear my hair in a ponytail everyday when my hair was waist-hip length and than switched to single braid since I found it damaging. And wore braids tailbone-thighes. Now I find the braids end gets stuck into things too much and is damaging so I'M switching to wrapped -braids/braid loops or buns. Unfortunately buns are usually not much comfortable on my scalp so I choose to do braids and wrapp them.:)

Hi and Thank You all!

I'm excited, because today(at 4pm) I go to a fun and friendly salon called "Motley Salon" no It's not Motley Crue, lol! ;)

I will have face framing highlights(because I have natural medium red hair,) I'll go with copper highlights. Plus a partial updo with my veil and tierea!

I don't have a "scanner". Sorry I can't upload, or download a pic for you all after my appointment, but I wish I could. You see my wedding cost take 1st priority....I hope to get a scanner one day soon, maybe in March, after my hooneymoon in Puerta Vallarta Mexico!

P.S. I use Walgreens brand Herbal shampoo, no conditioner, and sport Dep gel sparingly. I'm so low matience. But I always take a multi vitamin, selinium, and b complex with zinc too.

Back in the day I used to use a mix of grapeseed oil with Lavendar essential oil to massage into my scalp, then wash, and I noticed haelthier hair, why I don't do that now, I guess I'm lazy....

Thanks again, I'll keep in touch, God Bless!

Oh wo, I'm sooo happy with my highlights(which look natural) also the updo for my wedding which she added some curls(using a medium barrel curling iron)and along with my veil and tiera; well I looked and felt like a princess!!!!

My hair stylist Mary said soon she'll be 25 yr.s and I told her I just turned 35 yr.s Mary told me I do not look 35, and she's right!

It's more than gettting great hair, I use sunscreen, religiously(if you will).

So anyway, I'm so excited about February 18th, the Wedding Day!!!

For a while I never imagined I ever find such a sweetheart like my fiance' Steve!! He is pricless to me! Also we have wonderful friends, and family too!

I wish to thank all of You for welcoming me on the board!

Can I be Editor in Cheif? LOL, just kidding!

P.S. I bought a Tigi shampoo, which is called "Moisture Maniac". It smells fresh and should keep (my near virgin) hair looking great!

That depends. When I work, it's in a bun under an ugly visor, so when I'm off, my hair is always down. Whether it's straight or curly depends on how lazy I am! It's typically straightened though!  It just looks better straight.

I'm bored.  Supposed to be studying.  So I took a few pics of my every day style.  Since Jan 1, I think I've worn my hair down 3 times... blow dried once, and braid waves the other two.

And yes, I do this style with ouchless elastics... not great for my hair, but the only thing that feels secure and comfortable for me.

Sometimes the ends hang over the bun and you can't see it, but I love to leave it down from time to time because everyone's like "OH WOW, long hair!"

It's convenient... keeps it off my neck/clothes when it's wet.  I have thin chin length bangs that I had cut in December as well... they're side parted and tucked behind my ears.

Yeah, a lot of the people I go to school with don't realize I have long hair because I never leave it down.

My friends know, but they kind of forget... I forget sometimes too...

And you're right...the shine is kind of blinding when I look at them again.  Must be the conditioner I got for Christmas :)

Yeah, I don't realize how long it is until I take it down and leave it down.  The only time I have it down is right after washing to comb it and put it up a la the photos.

It's Matrix sleek look smoothing system stuff?  My little sister bought if for me because I was whining about store brand stuff not working out for me.  I also have an Advance Group (AG) leave-in that works wonders.

seems as though you had some up before, but I missed them! Your
length sounds very impressive.

LetMeCount123, your updo is so pretty! Your hair looks very shiny and healthy. According to your sig, we have similar hair types, so I'm looking at your pics thinking "wow, someday my hair will look like that!!!" Thanks for posting the pics. I am definitely inspired

I normally wear my hair in a pony tail or french braid....when I get in the mood and if I have the time, I like to experiment with it and try different stuff.

Hi everyone!

Please allow me to apologise in advance if I offend anyone. I have to say it with a smile ofcourse. But do all people with long hair simply like playing with it? I mean lots with long hair say they put it up or braid it, instead of allowing it to simply just be, if you will.

I used to have long hair and I would be  head banging with it, and tossing it around with my hands. I hardly ever put it up.

 Thanks,

A lot of people with long hair put it up to prevent tangling and damaging it. However, you're right, we like the playing...

Hi,

I sometimes fix me medium short hair with a barrete. But mostly I love it down, and flowing.

I find it ironic when long haired people say that long hair is easier to take care of; I feel any length can be demanding, I guess it depends on how High/or low maintence you are as a person, right?

I have normal to dry hair(if that makes sense). So I usually fill my bath tub with very warm water and add shampoo. Then while my body is soaking in the tub, I massage my hair, then shower rinse hair with very warm water, then cold water to seal the cuticle, and it also adds shine too.

I've read Beer  rinses add body to hair, but I hate beeer, what about root beer?,...LOL(joke) ;)

So anyway, take care of yourselves, not just your hair,ok! That's an order people!!! LOL! Hooyah!!!

Haha, thanks everyone. :) I'm so glad I found this board... it's very inspirational really, and even though sometimes I don't feel that my hair is very long it's nice to see that others get something out of it as well.

And Katay, I personally love having long hair, but it is very hard to leave down sometimes... especially where I live, I have to bundle up most of the time so it makes it hard to wear down. Plus, I carry a bookbag at school and often end up getting my hair caught under the straps on my shoulders...

I don't really like to play with it now as much as when it was shorter (I could do more with it), but I like to keep it up all the time for the shock value (basically) I get from people when I wear it down. It's fun!

Hi,

All I know is that when I had long hair it was cool looking, but when the wind blew, then my long hair looked like a mess!

I prefer hair no longer than my shoulders. Currently my hair is a bob style( about 3inches above the shoulder).

I'm 35 now, I want to do so many things, not just watching my hair grow. In fact on Feb 18th I'm getting married! then from Feb 22nd till march 1st I'll be honneymooning in Puerta Vallarta Mexico! Ahhhhh, soooo relaxing!

My hair just barely touches my shoulders after my cut, so I normally wear it down.  However, I can sometimes get up in an upsweep with a clip and it looks pretty good.
