Hi all,
Oh, my poor hair.
As of now, I have about 5 inches of natural (dark brown) hair up to my
scalp, followed by about 12 inches of twice-bleached, now dyed-to-
match dark brown hair, followed by about 8 inches of semi-permenant
dyed apple green (punky color) hair.
Yes, I agree it is ridiculous.
Anyway, I need to lose the green hair for a job. I refuse to cut my hair, so
the question comes to: How to change bright green hair to dark brown?
Obviously my "starting" tone is a bit different than most.
Should I give up and go to a professional?

Anyone on this board correct me if i'm wrong, but you could try to put a red-based brown color over the green to counter it so that it can come out brwon. Of course strand before you attempt anything, but its definately best to get a pro's help and advice instead.

Heh well I'd hafta see it to have a better idea of how to fix it. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself but if you can't afford a salon goto a beauty school and have it fixed. If you try it yourself you run the risk of damaging your hair and then the end result and only option could be cutting it off anyway.

Thanks guys.
I (through many tears) cut off the bottom 3 inches or so, since they were
fried beyond repair, and I figured I could hand them out as souveniers.
Anyway, I followed Veronica's advice and used a red-based brown. It
turned my hair a charcoal grey/brown, which is better than green, so I'm
happy.

oh dear! Well I say to strand test first but i looked back and realized i missed the word 'test' after strand...sorry abt that! Remember i said its best to get a pro's opinion instead. I feel kinda' bad now...but since you've cut a good deal off, you can start fresh!
