Yesterday, I asked my mom to cut my hair to my shoulders and it is totally uneven.  I like the length but it looks really messy and it's way shorter on the right side than the left. Anybody who cuts their own hair or someone else's, do you have any tips? How do you make sure the cut comes out even?

I've never cut my hair only trimmed it myself, so the best advice I can give is to get someone else you trust to do it for you because you can't see the back of your head.

Yeah, I would get someone else to do it too, especially if you want an even cut.  A lot of naturals cut their own hair though, I guess because they are wearing it natural all the time and it dosen't have to be perfectly even.

I had a similar experience, my mom had been trimming my hair and for some reason the right side was noticibly longer than the rest.  I had to end up getting a stylist to even it up.  She did a good job but she cut off more than I would've liked.

I already asked my mom to cut it for me since I can't see my head. She's done it before and it comes out good but this time she cut 3 inches off for me but when she was doing the top layer for some reason it ended up like an inch or two shorter. I think it has something to do with my new growth or shrinkage or something because it was the same length but then it bounced up. I think I'll go to a salon for my bday and get it cut to my chin. I'm too scared to ask for the hairdresser to do my BC right now.

Oh, yeah....I forgot you were transitioning.  Good luck.  It sounds like you are making a lot of progress already.
