I installed this last monday, it went in like a breeze compared to LG.

This is just after install with minor blending, I didn't cut off any length yet.

I guess my mirror needs to be cleaned!!!

And the final picture is after I washed it and scrunched it, it can be worn both ways.  I also cut about 2 inches off of the length.

In one of the previous post there was alot of talk about being able to wear a ponytail if you use the tapes, and I wear one almost everyday, and I don't have any problems with any of the wefts showing, so here are some pics of that also.

So here is the specs of the job:  4 1/2 strips of the pro-tack from Amm, 4 rows in back and 3 rows on the sides with one small 2 1/2 inch section on the left side of my part to give that side of my head more volume, since I part on the right.  I also doubled up the wefts on each row except for the very top I used one single weft and only 1/2 of the tape, so that the tape would not show thru my "fine" hair.  I used indian remy that I got from CherryCoke? (I think) this summer. The tapes are holding great, I wet my hair the day after install and when I was brushing I lost one weft, but since I doubled them up you can't even tell.  The tape stayed in!!  The only issues that I am having is super bad shedding, but this hair is on a zig zag weft, I have never used that before and I didn't re-inforce the weft, so I am not sure what to do about the shedding.  Otherwise, I am very happy so far!!!

That looks lovely :)  I was supposed to re-do my LG wefts today for the 3rd time, but the prospect just filled me with dread and I couldn't face it again!  Time to order some pro-tack I think...

gorgeous

i have to try that too do you think it would work with 24 inch hair? or would the weft doubled be to heavy for the tape this length?

Hi Aimee! I remembered Amm posting about her Pro-Flex experiences,
and I found this from a November 28th posting of hers:

"I just did a take down of mine (after almost 7 weeks in and ZERO
damage!!!) and put some more back in - about 8 oz of butt length hair
using about 8 strips. Yow! "..... "I put two
layers of weft in the Pro-tac and it's very comfortable... but heavy. The
only thing I would do different is not double the weft on the last strip
installed in the very back. Ya can't tell but I can feel it's too much of a
ledge on top. "

So 8 oz of butt-length hair...    I would think 24" hair would be
fine, unless Amm has any updates on how her 8 oz is holding up? but I
haven't seen any.

Very pretty, gsmilie!

My update is thus -- I probably would never wear this much hair in the winter again. It's cold and foggy where I live and this is too much weight and length to contend with while clothed in winterwear.

As far as the Pro-Tac supporting this - not a problem. The original install is pictured above and it's still in. There have been no problems or maintenence to contend with at all in regard to the strips. :)

The hair that I used was at least 20", I never measured it so I would assume that 24" would be ok.  The very top row I only used one weft and I only put the tape on the back side of the hair, I did not fold it over and it is not sandwiched.  I did this because my hair is very fine and thin and I was afraid that the tape might peak thru.  This install feels so light weight compared to the LG installs, this is definetly the way to go to install wefts!!!

Thanks for all the replys!

How are you sectioning the hair?  Do you do it in rows straight across the back, or "U" shaped?  And for the sides, do you do it straight across from front of head to back, or something different?  Actually, can anyone take pictures of their tape attachments?  I'm considering this method and would like to see how the sectioning/positioning is done.  My main concern is not being able to put it in a pony tail, but it looks like you have no problem with this so I'm curious how you positioned the wefts on your head!   Intriguing!

Been out for vacation...just got back tonight...

thanks so much for posting gsmilie, I'm heading to the post office tomorrow to pick up all the mail that I've been missing for the last two weeks, hopefully I'll have my hair wefts and protac strips...

A few questions...

one is the same as birdsofeden...how did you install, in straight rows, or curved (I'm trying my install tomorrow)?  The ponytail looks awesome, you cant tell at all...

Also...you said there was shedding...I got these:

http://shrinkies.net/elite.htm - http://shrinkies.net/elite.htm

(the 2 oz. micro-bond weft -18" - but I got 2 colors, so 4 oz. total) from amm, do you think that the shedding depends on the hair that you get or do machine wefs in general shed a lot...

Is this your second install?  Or was the other just a test strip...how long did it last?  Did you use regular shampoo/conditioner or special stuff (I didn't order any special stuff, I use pretty cheap shampoo, and since my hair gets oily fast, I have to wash at least every other day, most of the time every dday)...ohhh, also, can you use a weft more than once (I guess that question is for amm as much as you)??

also how long is your natural hair...it blended perfectly...geesh...I'm going to be playing all night, wish I coulda gotten the stuff tonight, I dont have work tomorrow, but gotta be up at 6:30am on Tuesday...

Am kinda nervous about install doing it well...I teach 9th graders, and if there is anyone who knows about hair it is 9th grade girls...ugh:)

The shedding that I have had I think is because I used hair that was on a zig-zag weft.  I have never used hair that came like that before.

It had slowed down quite a bit now.  I am going on 4 weeks of wear and everything is holding great!!

I places the wefts in rows in the back and then ran them from temple to temple on the top for another 2 rows.  On the last row, I did not double up the wefts and I only put the pro-tac on the underside of the weft, not folded over to sandwich it like I did the other rows.  I did that so that if my hair blew in the wind it would be less noticable.  so far so good.  I will try to take pics of the install.  I also put 2 small wefts on the left side of my head to make that part of my hair fuller, as I part on the right.  I also only used a single layer and pro-tac only on the back of the weft.  The very top one is starting to slip alittle and I will probably will replace that one in the next couple of days.  I think that is has slipped because I play with it all the time.

tbctbc, good luck with the install, it should go smoothly as this stuff is easy to work with.  And the hair that you ordered looks nummy!!!

Nice install!

I want to echo Bird's question about the placement of the wefts and whether you made a U shape or not.  I think the answer is more a v shape on top and straight rows in the back from what you have said.  Being able to wear a ponytail is so inportant.  And I think I want to go back to loose hair when thisinstall comes out.

excellent work!

I think that your hair looks great, and that the install is still going strong is an additional positive.  I am considering trying the Pro-Tac for my next install.

A couple questions:

1.  How many oz. of hair was used for this install?

2.  Does this type of weft install work best for you because of fine hair (I also have fine hair).

3.  How long was your hair before the install?

Thanks, Sandy

p.s. did you say you live in Minnesota?  I grew up there but now live in Texas.

2.  Does this type of weft install work best for you because of fine hair (I also have fine hair). This has been the best install for me.  I have used LG and only used single wefts and my hair looked scraggly (compared to what I have now). And I have used shrinkies, but had alot of pieceyness, but I think that was just the hair I was using.  But I have very fine/thin hair and it blends so nice and you can't see the wefts.

3.  How long was your hair before the install?  My hair is between chin and shoulder, and layered at the bottom only.

Thanks, Sandy

p.s. did you say you live in Minnesota?  I grew up there but now live in Texas. I also grew up in MN, but now live in TX.  Where abouts do you live?  How long have you been in TX, we have been here for 3 years.  I am in east TX, just north of Houston.

Wow! Small world...

I live in Round Rock, and work in Austin.  I can't believe it, but I have lived in Texas for 20 years.  I lived in Sauk Centre, MN until I was 10 and then Marshall until I was 25...oh my, just gave up my age.

Thanks for the details BTW, they will really help!

Small world is right!!.  I grew up in Prior Lake, MN and my husband and I lived in Jordan, MN until 3 yrs ago, now we live in Lufkin, TX.  Talk about culture shock!!!

I won't tell anybody your age!!

Do you miss the snow???  I guess they have been having some good snowstoms this year already.  I miss the snow, but not the cold -30!!!!yikes!!

I miss the snow...the first snow and the snow at Christmas.  Other than that I have really gotten used to the weather here.  And everytime I go to Minn. in the winter it is always "the coldest it has been for so long! or Boy it feels more like January than December" Lol.  Just my luck!

When I first moved to Texas I lived in Lubbock, now THAT was a culture shock.  I think Austin, at least for me has always felt more like home.  With the live music and all it feels similar to Minneapolis.

I have heard that Austin is a good place to live, I feel like I am in Bumfu&& hickville.  (sorry if I offended anybody)  But after living in a city that was 25min from Mpls and anything I wanted to do or see, I feel like we are in the boondocks now!!!

People are very closed minded here.

But, the winters are warmer!!

You would probably enjoy Austin then.  I was initially drawn to it's diversity.  I like that my sons have the opportunity to live around people from a lot of different cultures and religions.  That is really important to me since I didn't have that growing up in Minn.  I like all of the different celebrations!

This winter has been ridiculously warm...makes me a bit afraid of next summer.
