Is it better to go to the salon to get a color treatment or use the do-it-yourself dye you can find anywhere???

Also, just how bad IS dying your hair for it??

Thanks!

That question isn`t specific enough. It would depend on who is getting the coloring done and what condition their hair is prior to coloring.

If your hair is damaged then you should definitely seek a pro.

If you`ve never colored your hair before and you are trying to do a completely new color like brown to blonde you might want to see a pro.

But if you are just changing to a slightly lighter or darker shade you might not need a pro.

It would depend on your level of experience with coloring your hair.

I`m not saying yes or no to to your question. Its all a learning thing. As far as the dyes go, salon dyes are probably better but if you use a home dye make sure you use a name brand and not some generic brand.

I`m not an expert, and I don`t mean to sound like one. The only way to find out the answers is to try it. Only you can see what your hair does.

If you are worried about damaging your hair then a pro should be consulted. They might have access to less harmful products. Or they might know other techniques.

Check out sites like Clairol.com and see if they have phone numbers or email addresses you can contact to ask them about their products.
