Hi y'all,

I have been so busy these past 6 weeks. . .but wanted to post regarding my (now 7-week-old) PinchBraid install that I had done by Heather (Hairpolice affiliate) in Atlanta.

She put 6 oz. of hair in my head and is truly an ARTIST. The whole thing took about 4-1/2 hours. I used 4 oz. of 50% Mink Hair from His & Her (her recommendation) and about 2 oz. of #4 brown in Lush hair.

I was/am absolutely amazed at her work, her speed, her neatness. . .it's incredible.

I find the pinchbraids a bit bulky though; they seem more bulky to me than the heat seals. Then again, I have a LOT of human hair in my head, with a LOT of body in it, so I suppose that's going to happen. Further I can't take any of them out myself (can't quite figure that out) in the spots where I feel like they're not quite working. For example I have a pretty major cowlick on the back of my head and the pB's TOTALLY show. Once I was getting off an airplane and a lady walked up to me, and whispered (like you would to someone with a big piece of toile paper sticking out of their pants): "Your extensions are showing!" and it did look quite bad and I KNEW they were but I can't really do anything about it.

The problem without being able to remove them is that it's hard to do the big coloring (i.e. bleach highlights) that I only like to do inbetween (with no hair extensions). Recall JennyRR's debaucle -- the reason being that pinchbraiders prefer to "tighten" -- i.e. remove and install at the same time. When they do this they charge less (and it's really quite a bargain) because they don't have to "redesign" -- they just go back over where they put them in last time.

I was able to remove some of them in the front (with a few catastrophes where I cut my own hair to about 1" long) and replace them with nearly undetectable fusions.

Now here's the most interesting point regarding the hair. I know we've had this cuticle/noncuticle discussion and whether or not hair can be folded over. In the front of my hair, and in many spots, the hair was COMPLETELY FOLDED IN HALF -- or at least a section 1/3 the length of the full length.

THERE HAS BEEN ZERO, and I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NO tangling or matting due to this. So - anybody wanting to do pinchbraids or heatseals with Amm's Lush Hair or 50% Cuticle from His & Her - do not worry - you can do it just fine with no tangling. I found that very interesting.

I need maintenance pretty badly and will go back to Heather because she does awesome work. However I may use synthetic (or partial synthetic) on the next round and partial Lush since I know it can be used this way.

Sorry to ramble - and next - I will post pics - and please bear in mind that this will be a  7-week-old install!
Happy Holidays to All!

It is pretty hard to remove them yourself, only because you can't see where to cut properly! You can have a friend/husband/etc do it- anyone wiht steady hands, really. They should be able to see where the thread wrap is. I find that a small razorblade is very easy to cut the thread with, but small scissors or even cuticle trimmers would work too.

hey lady -

how did i miss this post? and ahem where are pics?

i love heather, as if i hadn't said that 20x before. artiste is right.

a while back i also attempted to remove some of my own pb's and saw a few long sections of my own hair hit the floor. someone mentioned one of those old fashioned seam rippers also for removal so you aren't really slicing.

PICS PICS PICS!

happy holidays all!
