I feel so frustrated! I just took out my second set of extensions that I put
in myself. The first time, I felt like I didn't have a single problem (except I
used dr. locks microlinks which slid out fast, but still lasted about a
month, so wasn't too upset.)

This time, from my other posts, was HORRIBLE. First, the hair turned into
a huge pile of complete mess, I ended up pretty much ripping half of the
ext AND my hair out in the process of untangling it, but that may have
been my fault for not being gentle enough with the hair.

But I took out the extensions thursday night. After about 4 or 5 hours, I
had still lots of glue stuck in my hair, but, as some of you know, I was
going on a trip, and some got worked out during my hours of swimming.
But my hair is still a mess.

I just ordered some lush hair, and swore to myself that I would take care
of it properly! But now, I am so scared to use the shrinkies again.
Anyways, to the point of my question....

Is it this difficult normally to take out the shrinkies for DIYers? I think
once I use the acetone it will all come out, but the last thing my hair
needs is any more damage. Did I do something wrong in the install?

Should I stick to the microlinks? Any good ones?

I'm so confused, I want to have nice hair exts for my next trip in less than
a week, but I am so scared to do anything wrong and have this much of a
hassle taking them out.

EDIT: this has been asked before, but on amm's page, it says the micro-
lite shrinkies can be used with lush hair. Will this solve my problem? Will
they actually hold??

I think that extensions take a lot of getting used to.

I took out my shrinkies after 2 weeks.  It was my first DIY install and I didn't do a very good job putting them in and my hair got tangly, too.

It wasn't too hard to get them out.  I sprayed alot of the remover in my hair and let it sit on the glue.  I worked in sections and would take out the shrinkie in one section while the remover soaked in on the other.  It only took maybe 45 minutes.  A lot of my hair came out, and I'm sure some of it was broken off while combing out the adhesive and some of it was just the natural shedding that was held in by the shrinkie.

My own hair feels really thin now by comparison, but I got some of that indian virgin hair from Amm, so I'm going to try LG bonded wefts next.  Kalika's picture is my inspiration!

Yeah, her hair is beautiful, and looks really natural. Well, atleast I'm not
alone. I was really upset that my hair only stayed in about a month! But 2
weeks, wow. I've even tried leaving the remover in, the one night I left
some in my trouble spots over night. Not much luck.

I'm so sad, my hair is so matted and so glued in some areas I don't even
know what to do, trying to work it out makes me want to cry it's so
painful.

I think I'm too scared to do this shrinkies thing. I am either trying the
micro-lites or the microlinks. I think for now I am just waiting till I get the
lush and using my left over dr. lock microlinks so I can put them back in
asap. They didn't damage my hair, and they were easy to get out, and I'll
look into some other method for the future.

What method did kalika use? Shrinkies?

If you want to stick with the metal tube option, I highly recommend the protubes that AMM sells in the regular size.

i agree with metal girl. the doc locs are aluminum and they crush when u try to open them plus the paint comes off very fast.
