How do I give myself the messy look for my hair? I usually rub my hair around really hard with a towel and it seems to do the work. It's really hard to do it after you take a shower with shampoo.

I've been trying to get the messy look for about a year now and I've tried a lot of wax and pomade, but none of them really held my hair for the entire day without the help of hairspray. However, I hated hairspray. I stumbled upon this stick of wax that does wonder though. Try Tigi Bedhead's Wax Stick or L.A. Looks Piece It Wax Stick if you want to save quite a few dollars. In fact, I recommend just using L.A. Looks Wax Stick. It comes in a stick applicator so you can just take the stick and rub it around your head. It works great because the untraditional stick method (rather than using your fingers and hands) create a randomness that you can't get with just using your hands and fingers.

Oh yeah, apply them on dried hair so that your hair doesn't get that shiny look.

Melanie, which one are you talking about? If it's the LA Looks, I disagree with the smell. It smells horrible. =[ I love the stick applicators and for some reason, those wax seem to work better than those from the small tubs. It's probably because I can't scoop enough onto my hands since the wax is so thick! In fact, the sticks don't even work for me if I apply it to my hands first cause I don't know how to scrape off a huge enough chunk.

try Garnier Fructis Surf Hair... i use it and it works really well.  when your is damp and towel-dried just apply a little to your hair- just make sure you use a really small amount or it won't come out as good.  and it smells really good  and i think it comes in a spray now too... you might want to try that.
