OK,  I've got an appointment at a salon tomorrow morning for color, cut, and style..  the thing is,  my hair style really bugs me right now (I am OK with the color).  I'm not very good at doing anything with it,  I can NEVER get it to a look that I'm happy with.  Last time I got it cut I tried layers..  which I don't really regret but I don't think they helped me out much either.

I've really been thinking about trying bangs,  nothing thick/heavy.. just some light wispy ones.  Maybe the kind that are also layered so that they are shortest in the middle of the face and get a bit longer towards the sides (I think that's what layered bangs are anyway..)

Here is a pic of me I just took..  late at night, no makeup,  didn't even brush my hair..

Tell me what you think..  Also if anyone can provide a few pics of styles similar to mine with wispy bangs I would really appreciate it.  I can only seem to find the really thick razor-straight bangs or the heavily sideswept ones which I don't like (I think they take too much work and hairspray, yuck.)

I think you should stop parting it down the middle! No face is perfect on both sides of the face and a side part hides that.

I do not know what sort of bangs you want. You can just find a style of bang and take it in and be like "I want bangs like that, but to keep my current style."

i agree with always alone.  Try a side part and you'd look good with bangs, and if you don't like them, you can always use a little clippy and move them back to the side.  Goodluck!

You'd look pretty with bangs although you might want to blend a few highlights through them as they will be all the dark colour while the bottom of your hair is light. Just to blend them in a bit.

Thanks for the pointers everyone.

I have tried parting my hair to one side,  it looks OK but I hate having to put gel or hairspray into my hair to hold it there,  it always makes me want to wash it ASAP...  not a good thing for a lot of hairstyles I know,  but it happens anyway...  Maybe I will get used to it some day though.

I will be leaving for the salon in about an hour,  I also had a question regarding the color of it..  you can see that thread here http://www.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=38626&PN=1 - http://www.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=38626& amp;PN=1

My hair would stick up when I switched to a side part. What I did was part it when it is wet and blow dry it like that (or air dry if you would like). You're hair will adjust...trust me. I also used to think side parts were not all that great and liked middle parts. Then when I switched to a side part by a comment made by my hairdresser. I wore it for several weeks then when I looked back at the middle part I realize how much better I look with a side part. It's not that extreme of a side part. Very slight but I think it makes a huge difference on everything. If you look at most styles they have a side part.

http://www.hairstylegalleries.com/galleries.htm <--lots and lots of side parts in the styles. Even those that look like middle parts are not perfectly down the middle...well there are very few styles that have it right down the middle.

Well I got back from the salon a little while ago,  here's how it turned out..

I like the bangs a lot,  they really help my whole look even with the middle part.  I am going to try a slight side part like your suggestion always_alone,  and see how that looks too.

Hi Mollybn,

I'm Mitch I've been a hairstylist for 15 years. Bangs would look great on you, but before you decide to cut your bangs do your self a favor and experiment with your hair do many different styles with your hair in a side part or make it wavy with a side part there are so many options you can try. You might come across a style you might like with your bangs long you never know. Afterwards if you decide to get your bangs cut go for it but keep your bangs long like eye level I think you would look good. If you would like to ask me any questions about things for your hair you can private message me here or mesaage me at: customonegtr@rock.com  Good Luck with your hair.

Sincerely
Mitch
