Here is my hair before the dye. It had almost faded back to my natural color, which is a dark strawberry blonde (notice there is a lot of red and gold in it, which I don't like):

Here is the hair afterwards (medium ash brown):

I like the dark color and absence of red. I want to hang onto the color it is right now as best I can (I know dyes tend to fade quite a bit at first though).
I already bought a shampoo with neutralizing toners for red/brassy tones that I just used this morning (two days since I got my hair dyed).
I also want to use a semi or demi permanent color inbetween trips to the stylist, but I want to make sure I apply the color correctly (what should I really know?) and also I want to make sure I get the correct shade. I know medium ash brown from different companies may produce different results, so I'd like to know one which ones tend to be a bit darker (but not really really dark, as in I don't want it to look black). I asked the stylist which brand she used, but she said you can only get it if you have a salon license
Is there anything else I can do to hang on to my color?

Love the colour! It's very rich, yummy
There's so many things out there to supposedly help keep your colour,
but you'll always lose some of it. I find that L'oreal Elvive
shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair actually makes it worse for
me. The best colour shampoo and conditioner I've found is
Sunsilk, and in the range you can get a intensive conditioning mask for
coloured hair too. These work quite well.
You can also get those tubes of shampoo to enhance specific colours
(blondes, brunettes, redheads) but I ddin't find these to work well
either. The L'oreal one was very harsh to my hair and made it dry.

Well, sometimes you can get stuff WITHOUT a license at such places as eBay. I love the new color! Very pretty!
