MY hair hasnt seen a perm since mid or early
september and i am not havinga single issue withit,,
I am SO SO SO PISSED at myself for having not
done this months ago,, at the same time tho,,
months ago myhair was shorter and really needed a
perm to look good,, myhair in front is curling right
past my shoulders,, and in front hasnt been that
length in literally years and the back has always
been pretty long ,,,,but having a full long front has
always been very important to me becuz having
broken short jagged hairs around the face isnt
flattering and i finally have it all back and am soo
grateful buit a little nervous that i have more
breakage to come but im continuing to use
emergencee and keeping my fingers crossed lol....

That's great, and good luck with your hair journey.  If you keep doing what you're doing I think you'll be fine.  I don't think you have a lot more breakage to come, actually I think the hardest part is probably about over.  I bet your natural hair is coming in beautifully.  Once I got my hair fully natural I started my journey to embrace my  natural hair and I've learned a lot.  I actually love my curly hair now and I'm not so set on fighting it anymore.

Good for you Cookie.  Don't be pissed. It's a learning experience and all you can do is change what you can. Good luck on your journey

hello everyone!

im new here  im so glad i found a hair forum like this one! my name is andrea and im from Wisconsin, i havent had a relaxer since early october 05 and i also wish i would have done so a loooong time ago, i havent been experiencing much breakage at all.....i dont want to cut my hair short and i recently had a trim to get rid of all the split ends, i have been wearing my hair in a bun or in a roller set. yesterday i wore my hair down and flat ironed and my mom complimented me on how healthy and thick my hair looked  i just hope that my hair wont start shedding during the transitioning process

I am right there with you for the stretching, I haven't had a relaxer since Sept 14th.  Before I decided to stop on the relaxers for a bit I had to cut my hair to right below my ears.  That would have been fine if I hadn't insisted on using my flat iron every day and I ended up having to cut off another inch from damage.  I haven't used my flat iron in months now so I'm doing well!  I have been using MTG for a couple of weeks now I believe my hair has grown quite a bit, I have not taken any pictures yet though so I am not sure.  Do you plan on getting another relaxer ever again?

I do not plan on relaxing ever again ,, I really really
want to be free from chemicals,, its like once u start
to relax ur a slave to it,, and u suffer u cant go curly
as u wish and breakage is nearly inevitable esp if u
go to a hairdresser that doesnt really care about ur
hair and i had a major trauma where i was left with a
mullet (like an inch in front and on top while the back
was long and i had extensions but that didnt help
much) from a Dominican hairdresser,, now im not
knocking Domincan hairdressers but I had two bad
experiences with 2 different ones so I am phobic of
these ppl LOL ,, i think i just found bad seeds,, but
whatever the case,, even since i started relaxing
myself i still have damage from it and since i've
stopped in early or mid sept I am not having any
"issues" so i dont know why i'd ever relax again! I feel
so freed becuz I dont even go for blowouts anymore
since i got my Solano iron,, I do it all myself and it
looks better than EVER,, I think if u can deal with not
having a perm and u really dontfeel like u NEED one
then DONT do it,,, its unecessary damage to our
beautiful natural hai.... I still flat iron and dont need
the chemicals to be as straight as i'd like,, Im a little
worried about the summer though lol but i won
go back to perms......
