How does everyone live through stretching their relaxers? I wasn't having a huge issue before, but now I'm 6 weeks post and my new growth is ridiculous. It's wavy, thick, and coarse and refuse to lie flat no matter what. So all my edges look like huge bumps. No styles I've tried seem to help and I'm at a total loss. What does everyone else do?

Try using S-curl no Drip Spray, it will help soften your new growth and make it easier to manage. Deep Conditioning atleast twice a month and CO Washing weeky helps too. As for styles braidouts, twistouts and buns are easy to do and are low maintenance.

I guess I could spring for some s-curl. My new growth usually feels soft, since I co wash a couple of times a week and keep it moisturized. I also deep condition once a week.

I've tried braidouts, twistouts and bantu knots and they've both failed. My hair is just the wrong lengths for it, they don't turn out right. I always end up wearing a phonypony. It works, but now my edges are just too wavy, it doesn't look right anymore. Tying my hair down with my scarf just makes the waves less poofy.

Thanks for the advice.

Try again for the twist-outs.  They can work on shorter hair, you just have to find the right size/placement of the twists.  Also, the products that are used make a hige difference.  I used to think that I couldn't do them either.  Now twistouts are my staple style.  I'll take a pic of it to show you tomorrow.

For your phonypony, you can get those edges down with some hard hold gel and a scarf.  The gel doesn't have to be anything special, I use 99 cent gel that doesn't contain alcohol.  Dampen the hairline, apply a good amount of gel, brush it back, then tie a scarf around it and let it airdry.

The s-curl is good to use if you're wearing you hair up or in curly styles.  For straight styles, it can make your hair wieghed down/frizzy.

When I was relaxed, I would put a little olive oil directly on the newgrowth after I washes my hair and applied my leave-in products, that used to keep it softer.

Here are pictures of my twistout.  My hair ranges from chin length to about an inch below chin length in the front in the front, and a little below shoulder length in the back.

S-Curl and daily co washed (and dc's) helped me stretch 5 1/2 months.  It's hard but it can be done.
