Pert Plus is an extremely harsh cleanser. A strong shampoo such as Pert Plus will remove all the scalp's natural oil, and the scalp will eventually overcompensate by producing excess oil.On top of that, the hair would be dry from frequent washing to remove that excess oil.

Basically It would be a never-ending battle between your scalp and your shampoo. At least that's what happened to me when I had short hair and used Pert Plus. I hated it.

A good substitute would be Suave Professionals Color Care shampoo, which is much gentler. Over a few weeks of use, a gentle shampoo would also make a person's hair less dry. It would also reduce your frequency of shampooing.

However, the Suave Color Care does not contain a conditioner. You would have to use a separate conditioner after shampooing.

Hope this helps

Don't worry, it doesn't smell like roses and daisies.

Suave Thick and Full Shampoo has the same ingredients as the Pert Plus. You won't be better off with it.

I've seen really good ingredients in kids shampoos. L'Oreal Kids has shampoos that are formulated with the same ingredients as shampoos in quality salons. Strangely enough!

The Suave Thick and Full Conditioner, however, sounds really nice. I haven't met many conditioners that I really really LOVE, but Suave BioBasics and Giovanni Direct Leave-in are my absolute favorites.

Have a great day
