Hello everyone!  I've decided to go back to my tried and true red color, which is similar to the one Debra Messing has.  My hair is naturally dark brown, an is currently colored a medium neutral brown shade, with golden blonde highlights.

I've been a redhead many times before, and always seem to return red again...

My question is, will it be difficult for my colorist to get me back to red at this point?  I have very long hair (tailbone length) and don't want to do anything that might compromise the health of it.

Thanks!

Make sure she uses colorfix to remove all the old dye before trying to get you back to red again.  Good luck!

Thanks, Rebekah!  After reading your reply, I called my salon to discuss this with my colorist.  She was tied up at the moment, but, I spoke with another colorist who told me that they can achieve getting me back to red by using Redken Shades EQ demi permanent color on the ends, and a permanent red color on the growth (roots).  She said that I will deifinitely experience some fadage for this initial application, and my highlights will most probably peek through somewhat as well, but she didn't think that color removal (via Colorfix) was necessary.

We'll see...  I hope it comes out the way I want it to!

I'm so happy to report that I'm a vibrant redhead again!  My colorist didn't have to use Colorfix.  She used Redken Color Gels (which is a permanent color) in a level 6 red shade, followed by a sealer, and voila!

I'm very happy!  Best of luck with your hair coloring endeavors!
