i just recently got a CHI iron and i got the Redken spray starch and it feels like hairspray on my hair when i use it and makes it look and feel like i never washed it. I am looking for a straightening balm even to use after you shampoo that makes your hair straight when you blowdry i have seen a few that you put in your hair and it says you blowdry and your hair ends up straight...anyway has anyone used anything like this and what kind of straightening spray with heat protectant would be good to use wth my irons and not make my hair feel sticky or like i never washed it i hate the look of my hair with the spray starch. i saw loreal straight balm you use with your straightening irons or curling irons it's in a pink bottle anyone ever use this? my hair is natural curly so when i blowdry it, it's kind of wavy in the back and underneath.

makeupalley.com has some pretty good reviews on various products.

here's a hint I quickly learned... if you're going to look for L'oreal don't forget the apostrophy in the name or else you'll never find it!

There are two straightening balms that I can think of that have received a lot of review on the internet.

One is Phyto's Phytodefrisant Relaxing Balm, which this sites sells.

The other, Frederic Fekkai Straight Away.

Of coure, there are some drugstore brands that are pretty good.

I've used a couple of straightening balms that work pretty well, one is hang straight by Aveda , another is Alterna and currently I am using a Samy product that is actually a hair polish and but also works well as a straightner. Put all these on towel dried hair and blow dry. I use one of those round brushes that has the blow dryer built into it.  My hair is also gray, and I get so many compliments on it.
