After years of coloring gray hair I want to let it grow out gray without having sections of color and sections of gray. Do you know of any products that will help me achieve my goal of looking attractive while my gray hair is growing out , and what product should I use after? The color I have been using is medium ash brown.

Thanks!

I started growing out my gray last April and have nearly reached an acceptable appearance.  When the gray roots were about 2 inches long, my hairdresser put in highlights to soften the line between my mid brown dyed hair and my real white and brown hair.  It achieved the desired effect, but I resisted the temptation to repeat it because the highlights are just something else I have to grow out now.

I read a good suggestion somewhere that extra shiny hair will disguise the growing out stage. I never tried it but think it is a good idea.  Recently I've been seeing products that promise to give extra shine.  I couldn't recommend any as I think I am in a different country to you.  But I should think there must be something like that where you are.   Good luck.  PS. If you find anything I'd be interested to hear about it.

This is my question too.  I'm so tired of coloring my hair but my roots are a very different color and quite grey.  I'm wondering if I could put a less permanent dye on for a year or so it that would work.  Has anyone tried that method before??

That was something I thought was possible.  Just keep applying semi permantent dye until the roots had completely grown out.  Then stop.  The dye should gradually fade leaving your hair all one narural colour...whatever that is.  Now that my roots are nearly completely grown out, I'm surprised that there is still so much dark brown.  I thought I was nearly all white...but I'm not.  Boo Hoo.  I'm actually disappointed.

You can have great looking 'grey' by just blending to reduce the
contrast of the white hair and to the remaining natural brown hair,
Check out www.adfhair.com this site is for grey blending .
