I just dyed my hair this morning. I was expecting it to turn chestnut brown but it turned dark dark brown/black! It'll take some getting used to but I like it. My question is: what's the best shampoo/conditioner to maintain it? Would it be the Pantene Expressions or is the Brilliant Brunette line better? I have no idea since I was a blonde this morning!

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

Congrats on your big haircolor change!  Don't worry about your hair being so dark, it will fade within a few days.  That's normal.  That brilliant brunette shampoo really has no dying ingredients in it that will maintain your color.  I use L"oreal shampoos, which are gentle and not hair color stripping.  Pantene conditioners are great (not their shampoos though).

The sun and water in showers are the two main things that dull haircolor.  And, of course, we can't live without those!  If you are going to be in the sun all day, maybe wear a scarf or little hat.  You could also try to not wash your hair everyday, conditioning is OK daily, but washing too frequently will dry out your hair more and fade your color too.

Sunsilk do a range for looking after coloured hair,  I tried the redhead one once and it smelt like cinnamon and was sparkley - very nice.  I think the brunette one is chocolate or something.  I may get some for brunettes now that I am one!

I'm going to color my hair tomorrow dark brown with dark auburn highlights. Where do you find Sunsilk?  I have a Ulta and Beauty Brands store around here along with Sally's. Which color would be good for me: brunette or red? I want a lot of shimmer!  I personally couldn't tell the difference in the results in either Pantene or Brilliant. Either way my hair still faded

You can get it over here from any drug store, unfortunately for you it seems to be a european company from the website.  However, you could buy it online many places.  http://www.sunsilk.co.uk/main_product/Home_Range_Eusunsilk/1,,10-3-2,00.html - The website is here

I would recommend the Deeply Brunette because your hair will be of a brown majority.  They have a shampoo, a conditioner, and a leave-in creme too.

BTW, The brunette one smells like chestnut (kinda nutty/chocolatey) and the redhead one smells of cinnamon.  They shimmer too.

My hairdresser recomended Artec shampoo and conditioner magoney color for me. It deposits color and supposedly keeps your color fresh.
