I'm trying to grow my hair longish.
But my hair doesn't sit flat on my head. it seems like there is too many layers of hair underneath that makes my hair look like its lifting off my head and that makes it look bulbous. My hair is very thick and curves (not curls) a bit but I don't care if it curves, I just want my hair to lay flat on my head. any suggestions? (I've tried telling my hairdresser this but it seems to go in one ear and out the other...or maybe she's not understanding me)

Do you mean lots of "volume" so to speak? The only way you could get it to lie flat is to chemically straighten it, but if that is not an option for you then you should use a beanie or hat to have it bound. Do it with slightly damp hair (not too wet) and once it dries, it'd be flat.

its hard to find a solution to your hair dilemma without knowing your sex however, either way the best to deal with it is to use a straightener for the time being.  if that does not work try using styling tools (mousse, wax, or gel) but dont overdo it and remember to rinse your hair at the end of each and every day mousse or whatever was applied because it could leave to product build-up and nobody wants that!

dont give up, theres always a way

get it thinned, to remove all that excess hair. i think your stylist will understand when you ask to thin your crown.
