I have spent 8 hours today with very talented ladyes at my first extension course, and what 8 hours - wheew. My head is a buzz, and I´m trying to hold on to all the new things I have learnt.

I was the only student, because the other student hurt her foot and could not get up the stairs, so there was 2 teachers, my model and me . Talk about intensive training.

I want to do more hair NOW, it´s soo fun. Especially now where I have learnt sooo much about highlights and CUTTING the hair.
One of the teachers was a very talented hairdresser (and the other is a stylist - a nice couple, and sisters to ), and she was very genereus to hand me tips and "hairdresser secrets" to razor and to cut the hair. Boy was I nervous when I had to razor the hair I had just worked on for hours, so she did it, and I watched her while she explained. Gotta work on that mannequin of mine before I do it on a real head.

I really really cant wait to do my own install know that I know how to cut the hair.
And my install time went from 10+ hours to 5 (and I´m stil getting faster day by day).

I´m so exited. Anyone want their hair done, I´m ready .

EDIT: That came out wrong . They are not a couple, like boyfriend/girlfriend couple, they have startet there own buisness together .

Sounds exciting Synne!  Will you share some of the cutting tips you learned?  Which methods did you use?

We used pretipped keratin hair, and a wand.

For the cutting we used razor and scissor. I can´t really say anything besides what have allready been said in here about cutting the hair (razor GENTLY down the hair).
I just can´t explain it in words alone.
We took a loong time to cut the hair today, because she explained everything to me, and showed me.

The only thing I have a picture of, is the angle to hold the razor:

any professional course u take to learn extensions hands on will teach you how to cut them, it would totally be worth the time and money. Can never over educate yourself. try a hair show too aphrodite, they teach alot of classes there too.

I have been taught by a few different professionals how to cut and blend extension hair.  I have a good feel for it now but agree, the more tips etc. ,the better.  My poor mannequin hardly has any hair left from when I first started using the razor!  LOL  I learned very quickly that a light touch is best....

So are you not supposed to use scissors to cut extension hair?  My stylist did use scissors and cut it on an angle but definitely didn't use a razor.  Would you use a razor for human hair extensions?  GL claims to be the only company that uses 100% human hair so I would think you could cut it like any other human hair.  I am asking about cutting because I disliked my cut and had to come back the next day to get it fixed.  I ended up w/ lots of layers and a more blended cut, but lots of uneven ends that aren't healthy.

GL is so full of sh!t if they say they are the only company that uses human hair! Thre are a TON of human hair suppliers out there, and most people USE human hair!

Hair extensions can be cut with either a razor or scissors. I think a razor is easier, but for a stylist who is experienced with cutting extensions they can achieve a great cut with scissors also, using the right cutting techniques

We used razor to cut layers, and a scissor to cut the ends nice and even with.

I guess if you like that look where the ends are uneven ("rock star look"?), then you could only use the razor, but I think cutting the last cm of the hair with the scissors really made it nice.
