I have been wearing the toppers unfortunetly. Years ago, I had some permanent hair loss around my crown area from sewn-in wefts. They were sewn in much too tight, causing the permanent hair loss.
I have worn wigs (ick!) and then I found someone that installed integration pieces but that looked terrible because the hair never matched my own and if someone looked at the top of my head, it was obvious.
Then I tried the closed integration pieces which worked better for me. My hairdresser would use the glue/tape method and they would last about 5-6 weeks before I needed to go back. My hair is healthy in the back so I would just add shrinkies, fusion, rings, taped wefts, glued in wefts for the back and sides. I paid my hairdresser about $1,000 for each "top" piece that was premeasured to fit my head exactly. Then she would shave the top area of my head in a circle where the "piece" would be adhered to. (The same thing that Hair Club for men does) It was very undetectable, the top was skin top so you could not tell if looking close up. I then started buying my own toppers (the 5 X 7) and installing them myself to let my own hair grow where it had been previously shaven from wearing the "piece". They never quite fit my head very good, I need the front area (bang area) full covered to hide the bald spots. Plus I have a high forehead I need coverage for. Having them made professionally looked much better for many reasons. The reason I didn't like them is because my real hair didn't match the hair I paid for. My hairdresser never gave me any choices, she just ordered whatever. Although the ones I buy myself aren't a perfect fit, they do match! (And they are smaller too.)
