How difficult is it to learn how to install strinkie hair extensions yourself ? How damaging are they to your natural hair ? How long do they last ? Is it difficult to maintain ? Would your recommend them over the fusion great lengths extensions or micro rings? Which method is easier to do yourself and less damaging to your hair ? Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions

| If you will click on the poll method, you'll find most prefer shrinkies. That isn't the case for me. They actually pull some of my hair out on removal, plus the orange oil everybody uses burns my skin. I'm a fusion fan. Easy on...and easy off. No wielding a hot clamp around the back of your head trying to hit the little tube. Just a squirt of acetone, a crunch of pliers and they are out of there. So far it's my favorite. I do have some tape to try...I can't read about something on here and not try it. But I always go back to fusion. |

Not difficult at all with time and patience. They have caused zero damage to my hair and, matter of fact, my hair has grown longer and gotten healthier because of them. I personally would recommend them over fusion in most but not all cases. For me, shrinkies is by far the easiest and has been the least damaging of all strand by strand methods. Good luck!

For me, I am the opposite. I will never again in my entire life do shrinkies.
As far as installing, a breeze. I, will admit, I am mircolink biased. The only thing that was a killer for me is that I had to melt my keratips into shoelace, then did the extensions, and had no finger and thumb protectors, so, i got some little burns and blisters from the night of doing that (which was horrible for me because I'm a massage therapist!) So point is, if you are doing alot, get the protectors. Otherwise, they stayed in well, and I had no problems with them. My problem was taking them out. I think I had lots of melt downs, but it took me FOREVER to take them out. I used the orange oil, coconut oil, some acetone, and even about a month and a half later, I still had some glue in my hair that I just recently cut out. They did no damage to my hair that I could tell of while they were in, but while trying to take them out, I lost TONS of hair. Even ones that came out easily had CHUNKS of my natural hair in it. After the shrinkies, I have way thinner hair, and some areas are actually kinda balding (you can't tell luckily) Granted, so many people love them. I may be did something wrong (no way I doubt that!) But still, it was a horrible experience for me. Now, I am sticking to the microlinks. I love those, no real problem yet. Just my 2 cents. |

Ok, now for my 2 cents worth: I literally have done over 100 installs with shrinkies and I have never seen any damage done with them. Like any method, one needs to take care upon removal. Are you being facetious? :) I ask because there's some problems with the install and removal you described. Microlinks are aluminum, copper, metal, nickey alloy or likewise material that is threaded onto the hair, the tip of the extension strand is inserted and then you clamp down with a pair of pliers. ------------- http://shrinkies.net - Extension Supplies & Virgin Brazilian Hair |

| I lost clumps of hair when I removed shrinkies for the first time, too. It was due, I think, to inexperience. Now, I can take out a shrinkie and not lose any hair. You just have to be sure that it his hot enough and very gently slide it down your hair. If you have to tug at it, it's not hot enough. |

| Another thing with shrinkie removal is patience. Really let that orange oil work for awhile and "massage" in into the bonds. I found that the shrinkies and glue come out fine with the remover alone although removing the shrinkie with the wand first is quicker. |

Amm if i get the starter kit plus the Elite Hair is there anything else that i need for DIY shrinies method approximately how much hair do i need if i have fine, shoulder length hair and want to get volume and a bit of increased length? Would you recommend blending two colours ? Could you please give me some pointers on the best areas to install the shrinkies so that they aren't visible and have the greatest effect ? How long will the shrinkies last ? If i want to remove the shrinkies do i just put the remover on the shrinkes ? Sorry for so many questions but i'm a newbie Thanks

You would need about 4oz chick if you have shoulder length hair and you are wanting thickness but just a little length, this would be 10 packs of the ez tipped hair and 5 packs of the ez fusion which you could heat and roll the tips to shoelace. It depends what colour your hair is if you need a blend, if you have thick chunky streaks in your hair then no you wouldn't need to blend but if you have fine streaks running throughout your hair you would need to blend, usually you would just match your hair to the underneath colour you are wanting to extend. You'll find a demo for placement on yourhairshop.
