Subject: Update: 3rd Lush Install

I am now 2 weeks into my 3rd Lush*Hair install and it looks as though some of the improvements I made in caring for them (new products and shower head filter) have help somewhat.  However, the hair does not lay down as well and is beginning to tangle. The hair still feels soft and smooth and looks good though.  I have not any dryness, but I do use products containing oils on the ends that help avoid that.  I guess at this point I will have to give up and move on to a different hair.  I will probably look for hair that more closely matches my own hair's texture.

I am hoping that I can still keep the hair in longer than the last 2 installs, which lasted 3 weeks each.  Actually 4-5 weeks would be perfect for me and my thin/fine hair.

BTW, I installed all the strands with micro-shrinks and have lost only 1 that did not have the shrinkie attached.  Very impressive!  I also have about 10 strands right now attached with the large silicone-lined micro-rings, no slippage on them either!

edit to correct spelling and grammer...hope I got it all! sarytyr

sarytyr - unfortunately, I have not had much luck with LUSH either.  Based upon board members' feedback, it seems that some batches are great, and some are not.   My clients' issues have been severe dryness and tangling, as well as shedding.  I have also had clients that have not had problems.  Strange...

I'm looking forward to trying Amm's new hair...

I'm going to preface this post by saying how much I love amm, admire her tireless efforts to find and bring to us the best deals in hair & hardware, and am grateful for her extensive fieldwork. She shares her findings backed up by meticulous pictures and tutorials. Plus she's smart, honest, gorgeous, and hilarious.
But that Lush hair...I bought quite a few bundles when the dark colors were on sale - 1b, 2 and some 4s for highlights. It was beautiful out of the box, but in a week, it was dry, tangly and not good. It was installed on the sides with black shrinkies (which rock!) while the rest of my head sported wefts and Pro-Tac bonding strips (which RULE), also from shrinkies.net. The difference in the Lush hair and the other wefted hair was obvious.
I believe amm is discontinuing the line because of probs with her supplier and I'm guessing because of the inconsistent quality. Some people got great batches, others got bad ones. And it's not color dependent: mine were all dark and they ALL deteriorated badly and quickly.
So there's my 2 cents. One more experiment come to its conclusion.
I love this board.

Syren - I agree with you 100% with respect to your comments about Amm...she is amazing.  However, the LUSH hair is very disappointing indeed.  I'm looking forward to trying her new hair though as I know she will keep at it until she gets an awesome product.

Yes, I am surprised.  My colors have been #2, and #4.  Also, the one who had the shedding, did not have bad dryness and the one with severe dryness, had minimal shedding.  I did a second install on one client who was willing to give LUSH another go and I told her about the chlorine water filter.  She got one and is using Pureology products and is having much better luck with it so far ( 2 weeks only though...)  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Yeah, I agree, I had no major problems with the lush hair, but in the
begining I heard such amazing things I was slightly disappointed because
I did have some dryness and tangling. Like everyone here said, it's in no
offense to AMM, I love everything else I bought from her, and she got
everything right and fast to me! Plus, she's a sweetie! So I guess that's
why she is discontinuing it eh?

I just wanted to state that even though the Lush hair didn't stand the test of time for me it was still a good value for me and I spent way less money on 3 separate installs of it that I did with 1 bad experience with a "professional" extensionist.  Plus, I learned a new skill (I love knowing how to do things myself!).  Unfortunately I am now hooked and don't want to stop wearing extensions.

I am so greatful that there are people like Anna and Kristin, among others, that are running profitable businesses and finding ways to provide affordable, quality products to professionals and DIYs alike!
