Hi Kristin, I recently voiced my opinion on your shrinkies in the post about your business and Trina wanting a refund. She also voiced her opinion on the frustration with them. I also posted a seperate post about Lush Hair and your shrinkies where some others had voiced negative feedback towards them. I wanted to get your own opinion on them and see what you thought. Do you use them in your own hair for extensions? I am getting Lush Hair (pretipped) from Tangles and I have your shrinkies at home. I used them previously on hair that I pretipped myself and within a day or two they all slid right out. That is the same problem other people have been having with them. Can you give me and others some pointers on them? Whats going on with them? I thought maybe I had done something wrong until other people started saying the same thing. |

Let me answer this as strictly a consumer and not a "competitor" as some local shops like to consider me.
If you look around you'll see the majority of all the shrink tubing out there are called shrinkies. It's a pretty generic descriptor for this. Most are not adhesive-lined but it's not put out there for you to decide before the purchase. I disclose it but there's not many who do. Heaven forbid they lose out on a purchase! Ask the vendor beforehand what they are. And most importantly, ask them if they know the details of the material. Some have mentioned the yourhairshop tubes melted funny. Not all shrink tubing is non-flammable so always ask about the temperature minimum. And NOT the temperature their wand starts shrinking it but the temperature they are rated at. Yes, there was one account of the YHS shrinkies melting but it seemed that their temperature was either up too high or that the wand was left on too long- I only heard one account of this happening. As I've said before, the lining of the YHS shrinkies is not enough to base you bond on but they did hold well for me when used with fusion tipped hair which is also what we recommend on our site. I wouldn't recommend using liquid gold to tip for ours or any that are unlined. No matter what shrinkies I've tried lined or not I've always lost some during wear. What's the temperature rating on these plastic tubes? Not the dial setting that you put a certain wand to because there's a lot of people who don't have wands where they can adjust or even see what the temperature is. If you're using a wand you just plug in with no adjustment, how can you recommend a certain temperature?
Now, you have referred to this "lining" a couple times on your shrinkies and I'm just trying to understand something because I have the same product here from your supplier. What exactly are you referring to because there is absolutely no lining inside them. Liquid Gold is fine for tipping hair and using under a shrinkie. Basically what you have Amm is plastic tubing that electricians use with no adhesive inside that's been cut up into little pieces, I have the same so called shrinkies here and there is no adhesive inside at all, I don't care what they china suppliers have supposedly said, its fricking common sense that these don't have any adhesive in them and you can test this yourself by melting them, with shrinkies that have adhesive inside when you heat it up you can see the adhesive ooz out, when you heat these up there is nothing even when you totally shrink them down still nothing. I tried them on hair with nothing on and it didn't even grab, if there was even a slight bit of adhesive inside it would still have grabbed if even a little. To be honest its cheaper to buy the stuff and cut it up yourself. I think these things are a waste of time unless you have KERATIN tipped hair, this is the only thing they will work with and even then they do not provide as secure a hold as the adhesive lined ones. As you an see from Kristen's hair there is keratin above the shrinkies and below that has melted into her hair, that is the only thing holding the shrinkies in, the shrinkie isn't holding, its the keratin that's holding the shrinkie xx with adhesive lined shrinkies there is no keratin that has melted out above or below the shrinkie (as seen under shrinkies on http://www.hairextensionsbyamanda.co.uk - www.hairextensionsbyamanda.co.uk ) you don't have to melt the shrinkie long enough to melt the keratin as well to get the hold with these, you only have to melt the shrinkie long enough for the adhesive in the shrinkie to melt, therefore easier take down as there is less keratin in your hair x ------------- [URL=http://www.hairextensionsbyamanda.co.uk]www.hairextensionsbyamanda.co.uk[/URL] |

Well, that makes sense. You use adhesive lined shrinkies to hold in hair that doesn't have keratin or isn't tipped with enough glue to hold the hair in alone. You use the non-adhesive lined shrinkies to hold in keratin tipped hair. You could probably even use the non-adhesive lined shrinkies to hold in pinch braided hair (like Kalika's demo).
