Personally I'm scared to use MTG because it is not marketed for human use anymore (at one point it was used to treat skin disorders but now that it's marked for horses the formula may have changed, not sure),a lot of people use it and have great success from it. I don't think I've heard any horror stories yet but I've heard a lot on Surge so I know I won't be using that. LHCF has tons of topics on it that I've been researching. Just do a search on MTG. Here's an interesting one with a letter from the company http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77564&highlight=MTG - http://www.longhaircareforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775 64&highlight=MTG HTH.

I didn't know you were scared of MTG Pokahontas. You never told me. I thought you were interested. Well, I've quit using it... for now at least.
The story she is probably talking about is the one on BHM yesterday where the girl said her blood pressure went all up and stuff. Close to the bottom of the page: http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=14196&KW=Dolleyez&TPN=13 - http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=14196&am p;am p;am p;KW=Dolleyez&TPN=13
It is pretty scary, if it is not just an isolated incident, but I think she must be allergic. Don't really know.
So, NychaelaSymone, are you still going to use MTG for a month like you originally planned, in light of the scary stories?

yes, I'm still using it....but I'm not using it all over. I'm actually trying to see if it will thickin' up this thin spot. So I only use there. I have 2 more weeks and then I'll see. Frankly, I'm not scared of it anymore after I confirmed what it consisted of and frankly other than the smell, its not harmful. I don't think they'd have a product on the market to use on an animal that is truly that harmful to humans. Remember a human has to apply it to the animal. I haven't had a problem yet...but then again, I've only been using it for 2 weeks.

OK, I've done a little research. To those who've used it, what kind of growth do you get?
Does it encourage growth from the roots? Or just keep the ends from breaking?

Renata22: Results vary. Some people get an inch every 2 weeks, some get an inch a month, and others get 3 inches a month. Yes, it does encourage growth from the roots. And in my experience it reduced shedding and breakage. As for split ends, I only use it on my scalp and I use Carrot Oil on my ends, so I couldn't tell you if it prevents split ends. HTH!!!

I contacted the company and they confirmed this, also, it's not toxic or harmful, just to those who may have sulfur allergies.

I've heard mostly good things about MTG though. Right not I'm using WGO but I may just try MTG one day. Where do you guys buy it?

It seems there is nothing to be scared about after research. Jaya on the other site emailed them (shapley's) about Cancer. (did you see the thread) We were concerned about the paraffin oil being one of the dangerous types. It's one of the safe types though. They are still working on a formula for people. So by the time you decide, they may have one just for us.

I don't think I saw that thread but I did see the one that pregnant ladies should not use it because of a certain ingredient but I can't remember which one.
That would be good if they had one for us soon. I wonder if they would change the formula though. I read that some were worried about that.

You would think they would just go back to the original formula, when the stuff was for humans. I wonder why they stopped making for us in the first place?!?!
