hi,,i have learned so much from this web site ,,i'm hooked!!..my question is,,i  have  great sewn in weft hair extensions right now,,done by a pro,,,and i love them!!,,i would like to add, maybe 5 on each side,,strand by strand extensions,,just to give me more volume near the front of my head,,(whear the tracks weren't put to avoid being able to see them,,,),,anyway,, i've been reading and reading and think i've narrowed it down to the extentube starter kit from hairpiece.com  or shrinkies starter kit...the extentube kit i think is just the clamp method, whereas the shrinkies is uses the heated bond,,, can any of you please give me your opinions on which one you think is the better system and the reasons...also... do the silcone tubes on shrinkies.net are they for the clamp method or the heat fusion method....thank you in advance..

The silicone tubes on Shrinkies.net are shrinkies, the silicone-lined microrings are installed with pliers (clamped).

For a DIY just starting out I recommend the silicone-lined micro-rings.  The silicone in the microrings provides a barrier, cushion as you will, between your hair and the metal on the rings.  This does 2 things, 1. protects your hair from damage and 2. grips the hair to reduce slippage.

My first 3 installs were done with shrinkies and, while it can be successfully done, there is a small learning curve.  I think that learning curve would be managed better if you are not worrying about burning yourself while you work on sectioning, etc. if you are doing the install without help.
