Your hair sounds like the texture of mine. Relaxer resist, comb breaking, thick, coarse hair.
It took me years to find quality products and a regime that would work. The main reason the products weren't there. I grew up in the era where the pressing comb and the curling iron went on the stove. You are lucky with all the products designed to help our type hair.
One thing I can tell you is always, always add your moisturizer to damp hair. For example after I wash and towel dry I apply Organic root stimulator Olive Oil Lotion and Infusium 23 for color treated/permed hair to my hair and twist it into sections. (My hair is neither) http://public.fotki.com/1babydimple/i_love_me_challenge/wettwist.html - http://public.fotki.com/1babydimple/i_love_me_challenge/wett wist.html
I apply enough so that I can see it when I twist. Let it "almost" dry then I apply wild growth oil to the ends. I do this if I air dry or blow dry.
If you blow dry add a large toothed attachment comb and do a small section at a time and only blow dry 1x a week. Try to air dry as often as possible. It takes longer but your hair will be much healthier. If necessary I proceed to flat iron.
To maintain moisture through the week I re-apply the Olive oil and wild growth every day. It's not wet and you don't have to worry about your hair "froing - up" My hair is really dry and by the end of the day can look like I put nothing on it, but if I maintain this schedule it stays soft and pliable. Consistency is the secret to healthy hair.
You are young enough to start out your journey into womenhood with a beautiful head of hair. I wish someone would have schooled me. I hope this helped. If I can think of any other tricks I let you know.
