I've been taking my braids out for the past week and plan to finish on Friday...do you think Monday is too soon to relax.  I'm going to a professional.  It appears my own hair is healthy (with the exception of my thin areas which seem to be filling in).  If not, what should I do to my hair to maintain it until it's safe to apply a relaxer.  In the past, I'd take my braids out one day and relax the same day but I'm sure that wasn't the healthiest thing to do.....I didn't have problems then but I'm older and I know my body isn't functioning the same as it did in my 20's.

i think you should wait 3 or 4 days after. my sister took hers out and got it relaxed right after which wasn't a good idea

From what I have read in magazines, I think waiting a week or 2 weeks is best.  Make sure to deep condition your hair during your next wash to give it more strength for braiding.

Wait atleast 2 weeks, anything sooner than that you'll risk breakage and damage.
