Hey everyone. I'm here to get help on my straightening/styling
techniques, I believe they are a bit shotty for sure. My hair if I tug
it as straight as it can go it goes jsut past both eyelids of my eye. A
picture of my hair here:  That one isn't a very good picture of hat my hair normally looks like but anyways you can see that when I go to straighten it, most of my hair on my bangs lifts up off of my forehead/eyes when I went it on my forehead and directly over my eyes to look something like this: 
What I usually do for my hair is this: I take a shower and use Redken
Volumizing shampoo, then I use a Triple Moisturizing conditioner by
Neutregena. THen I towel dry my hair a little, and then blow dry it
completely dry while combing it with a comb/brush. I then proceed to
take Sebastian Xtah Crude Clay pomadeish stuff into my hair to try and
style it in the way I want it to be when I flat iron it. This is all
while loading my flat iron up, my flat iron is a Chi 1". Afterwards it
depends on how it looks i may use hairspray or I may not. Hairspray I
find for more times when I put my hair up in some sections to make it
go down and give it a raw feel with my hands. I don't know what I'm
particularly doing wrong other than not really having the same length
of hair yet. But if you look at this picture here, I believe it is
pretty much the same length I could get it if I knew how to properly
straigthen my hair: Does anyone have any reccomendations on products or techniques that I could use or am not using to get this kind of hair? My friend reccomended Bead Head Manipulator or a Bed Head wax stick. SOrry for the long post/big pictures. I hope you all have a good day and don't mind it. |

Maybe you could try training your hair? That might sound odd, but if you know of anyone that has parted their hair all their life, it's probably hard for them to pull it straight back without the part trying to show through. So what I'm saying is, after you get out of the shower, while your hair is still wet, comb it the way you want it without blow drying it or whatever. It might take a little while, but you should see results...don't worry...it's not going to take the rest of your life! ------------- RANITA~~ ----------- What good is life without a horse??!!! |

a hint... sometimes when i straighten my bro's hair for him (he has INCREDIBLY thick, shaggy asian hair that's really coarse and wavy), the only way to get his bangs to go straight down and emo-ish is to use a tiny barrel curling iron. i just use straightening creme like thermasilk or something and some mousse in his hair before i do it, but it works. i guess sometimes you gotta curl a little to get it straight ------------- |

| I remember when I straightened my hair, it probably could have looked better if someone else did it. I mean it turned out ok, but it just didn't look like it really should have. I had one of my girl friends do it once, and it came out looking great. My hair was pin straight, something I've never achieved on my own. I would suggest having someone else do it for you, as well as using a straightening spray that will also protect your hair from heat damage. Go to your local Sally Beauty Supply store (if you have one) and ask for recommendations. |
