OK Girls...DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE THAT I DID TONIGHT!!!

My top weft on my protac install I found the tape visable after a few weeks so as you may already know I used LG to sandwich the hair back over that tape. I decided do a takedown tonight..all of the rows went super easy to remove with conditioner, just working it in and letting it soak the tapes slid rid out with a little working  leaving no residue behind in my natural hair. My MISTAKE came when I got to the top row....since I had LG'ed that hair over the tape the conditioner wasnt gonna cut it....so I did as I always do to remove LG, and got out the handy dandy ol' acetone....well the acetone made the wefts slide right out of the tape leaving the tape behind in my hair....OHMYGAWD Im having one B!TCH of a time now getting the tape out of my hair. I am sitting here as I type with conditioner soaking on the tape *hoping* if I leave it sit for awhile I can get it out....if that fails I'll get out the orange oil remover....GRRR

My suggestion at this point is to NOT combine LG and pro-tac!!! And if any of you already have done it...use the orange oil to remove....dont use acetone on the pro-tac!

try some olive oil in the hair for as long as you can stand it if the conditioner doesnt work... it helped me get some of the stubborn tape pieces out .. good luck!!

yeah, this morning I had something similar. I didn't use acetone. The
wefts slid out perfectly. I used the orange remover, but I had used the
glue from sally's. I believe that is what did it.

Anyways, I used a fine toothed comb and the tail of those combs and it
helped get a lot out. It combed out pretty good, there was a slight tug
though.

phew....got it all out! The problem was the LG/protac combination. I had the same thing happen on the left side without acetone as what happened on the right side with acetone. So it had to be the LG/pro-tac combo. Thankfully it was only my top row and 2 short side peices. I dont know what I would have done had this been my entire head....it took me over 2 hours to get that top row and 2 side pieces out! WOW....I wont ever use that combination again! I was fighting it even with the orange oil....those tapes were just as if they were CEMENTED in my hair!

That sounds hellish.

I need to remove my pro-tac this week after just a week as the hair I have in is DREADFUL. I thought I'd do an experiment and it didn't pay off at all so the hair's coming out.

So what would you recommend to remove it at this early stage?

the pro-tac alone removes easily. I had no problems taking all the rows out with just conditioner. I let it soak about 30 minutes and then just worked them loose with my fingers and they slid right out, tape still attached to the wefts. But on the top I used LG to touch up...thats where the problem came in. If you have used LG on top of pro-tac, Id advise the orange oil....have lots of patience and let it soak, and just keep working it in until they start to loosen. Anywhere I used LG to touch up, the wefts came out harder and the tape stayed attached to my hair.

Ive used LG for years and never had a problem removing it, and all the other rows of pro-tac came out easily...so it had to be something about the combination of these two adhesives....

Sammy what hair you wearing?  I have some hair in at present and I dont think mine is going to last long.  I just bought this as it was the best one I could find at the time for quickness but doesn;t look like it will last longer than a few weeks. I have got this installed with Protac.

I will take the comments on board that everyone has stated.

I have only used the orange oil to remove my wefts, timing I don't think really matters.  I am going to try conditioner as I am running low on OO.

Sherrie, sorry that you had so much trouble, I have never used any LG in combo with the tape, but I don't bet that I will now!!

With the conditioner it takes a little while to loosen the tapes, and I had to really work it in and let it soak before they started to loosen. But what I liked was no gooey or gummy residue. And I was able to pull the tapes right off the wefts leaving no tape or gooey stuff on the wefts.
