hi everyone,

sorry i just had post this, my hair is pretty long now and its a total curly clump! im 18 male, and really in2 extreme sports, so i want that straight emo/skate look. can anyone help??!

im too embarrased to go to the hair dressers as my hair will prove to be a real challenge, my friends have tried to help but its not really working...

i own a pair of straighteners and have attempted to straighten it quite a few times, it works for a short while but soon goes back curly. i think this is because i dont use the right products, i dont know whether to use gel, wax or spary, i just dont have a clue!

My hair is pretty dry naturally so does anyone have any advice on tips how to straighten or products to use? i usually burry my hair under one of my many hats, so any advice or help would be totally awesome! i feel like im hiding away!

Many thanks

If you really want the straight look, probably the most convenient thing to do is have it chemically straightened at a salon (if you're leery of salons, call up a local men's barber shop and ask if they chemically straighten hair...I wouldn't know but they might so it couldn't hurt to ask).  Your hair sounds like the type that just doesn't want to stay straight otherwise. I don't know much about straightening techniques, so you may want to read through the Straight Talk forum here to get tips on what products people use if you want to continue trying with the iron.

If I were you though, I'd show off my long curly hair, I think long and curly looks great!  If you decide to stick with what nature gave you (which is probably the easiest thing maintenance-wise), use a little oil on your hair for the dryness.  This will also help reduce frizz and define the curl or wave pattern.  You can use jojoba oil, coconut oil, or some even use olive oil - that you can just buy at the grocery).  If your hair is chin to shoulder length you will only need 1 to 2 drops of it, rub on your hands and spread over your hair, especially at the ends (not really necessary above the ears or on the scalp).  Your hair should not look oily after you do that, if it does it means you used too much.  Good luck.

susan is right

you have to get it chemically straighten for that emo look.

then you need a blow dryer, hair iron, straighting lotion, and wax to keep that look

it can be a hassle coz you are into extreme sports, i mean even though the hair is straight, its not totally straight, if it is you hair will be stiff as a board, which not ideal

if you iron it, humidity and sweat will curl it back.

if i were you i save the emo look, for just hanging out with friends and keep the curly, "i don't care  what people say", bad boy image hair.

some guys are probably figuring how to make it like yours.

wow, thanks for the feedback

im totally taking that curly haired bad boy into account! lol,

ive decided im gonna dye my hair blondish, maybe just a few streaks, will make the curls stand out more and give the hair some life!!

..i fink il give the hair a session with the straighteners once in a while just to keep the curls different definitions, spicing it up abit

thanks again
