Is it better for your hair because you arent going from extremely curly to straight you r just going fromextremely curly to looser curls?

I thought a curly perm was a "jheri Curl".  Back in the UK we used to call them "curly perms".

The problem with Jheri curls is that you have to put a lot of moisture products on them as they are very drying to the hair.  This means that you aren't meant to blow dry or roller set your hair very often with those sort of perms.

Also if your hair is relaxed it is quite difficult to transition to a curly perm.  A lot of professionals either like you to grow it out or cut it off before applying a curly perm.
