Try natural oils such as Pomace B olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil (thick-i use this for dry ends and pre-poo treatments) and palm oil.  I usually get mine at http://www.thechemistrystore.com - www.thechemistrystore.com    For Shampoos: Try CON- cream of nature or liquid castille soap from http://www.thechemistrystore.com - www.thechemistrystore.com   , conditioners: Saloncare conditioners or Curecare conditioner at Sally's BSS  , Now for deep conditioners: I still use cholesterol (mineral oil or petroleum-one of them is in there) or dominican c*cktail consisting of miss keys 10 en 1, emergencia and rivas silicon mix(these also contain those two bad ingredients but work well on my hair)

I would suggest you make your own hot oil treatment (I have not found any that I like) add shea butter, glycerin, jojoba oil, and vitamin e oil in a small container and heat till al oil is melted...let it cool a bit and then add it to your hair. ITA agree about the miss keys 10 en 1 but I don't mix it with anything though. Also Kiehls Coconut rinse is wonderful.

It may or may not have petroleum in it, but a product worth trying is Pantene's relaxed and natural oil moisturizing creme. You can actually tell the difference and can tell that the creme has penetrated the hair shaft.

Hey, something that works for me is jojoba oil and olive oil, I mix it together and put it in my hair for a few hours before I shampoo and condition, and u can also use it as a daily moisturizer. My scalp is moisturized and I have no flakes, haven't seen one in months and it encorages new growth.

Since I've tried shealoe butter on my hair, I actually like it much better than the Pantene!

Cantu shea butter moisturizer has neither of them in it.  It's a good product.
