          | Hello Ladies. I am new here. It looks like a great forum for sharing advice, questions. Anyway, here is my situation: my hair is severely damaged and breaking. It seems like I got a bad relaxer a few weeks ago. When I noticed the breakage and texture I immediately had a few inches cut off. But now my shoulder length hair is still breaking off (maybe even more). I have super short pieces through out my hair. My hair is pretty thick so it isn't very noticeable (except for the hair on my clothes and the floor etc) I would really like to salvage some length. Can anyone recommend a deep conditioner for severely damaged hair due to chemical treatment. I have used the Apogee treatment twice. I'll probably use it again soon, but I think I need something to more nourishing and restorative - not just a protectant and mending treatment (which is what I think the Apogee does). Please Help :( Thanks for reading/looking (and hopefully replying) |

          | Kinda off-topic from the conditioner thing: What's your regimen so far? Edit - The reason I'm asking is because maybe something else you are doing/using is the problem.

          | If your hair is damaged, then you may need a good cholesteral treatment or you may hair to chop it all off.

Im gonna be frank about the previous post,, I dont
agree with either suggestion,, I have read that
cholosterol treatments do nothing for the hair but sit
on top of it,, they didnt help my hair and dont go
 cutting it all off
!! ,,, if u didnt like Aphogee give Nexxus Emergencee a try,, it helped ALOT for me
with breakage from old relaxers,, a less strong one
is K-pak which also is effective ,,, when u do one of
these make SURE u soften the hair well afterwards
by using a deep conditioner ,, I use Neutrogena
Triple Moisture mask,, its amazing along with the
shampoo from that line,,for shampoo Creme of
Nature has also had great reviews from posters
 here
,, also common sense,, just be very gentle with the hair,, try not to manipulate, comb or brush
much when its wet,, that causes breakage,,,
 Welcome to the forum

          | Please don't over do it with the Aphogee!  It could cause more breakage from protein overload.

          | Thanks for all of your input.    As for chopping it off, I'd rather not. Especially since the strand lenghts vary greatly. Some breakage leaves strands of less than 1" long, so no matter what, there will be some uneveness. I will just continue to have any split ends periodically clipped. But I would like to salvage what I can. I like the idea of the Emergencee. I forgot about Nexus Emergencee. I will give it a try and follow up with a deep moisturizing treatment as suggested. And I will ease off of the Aphogee for now becuase it does dry my hair out quite a bit. I'll probably just wear it in a loose pony tail for a while to give my hair a break from styiling (and from the temptation of using any heat appliances).   Thanks again |

          | Definitely agree w/ everyone here re Emergencee.  Don't forget to rinse thoroughly and then use a good moisturizing conditioner.  I know many like the Neutragena Triple Moisture line.  I found that it was ok actually.  I didn't love it but many people rave about it plus it's easy to find.  Also recommend followup Emergencee treatments + moisturizing conditioner every other week and the alternating weeks do deep treatments w/ heat (micro hair cap), shower cap and hot towel or just warm your deep conditioner before applying.  Cookies is dead on re less manipulation too.  Little to no heat styling. |
